Our schedule has been light so far, but what have you seen that indicates we wouldn’t be able to hang with most of the other unbeaten teams?Blitz79 wrote:We are well on our way to being the worst 7 - 0 team in the country.

Re: Usu #46 at 5-0 on Kenpom
For what it's worth, there are 16 undefeated teams lower than USU on KenPom. Interestingly, four of them are on the future Aggies schedule,: USF, Seattle, UNM and UNLV.
I know that it is in vogue to mock this year's schedule, but KenPom has the Aggies at #157 in SoS - not Murderer's Row, but hardly terrible. IT's the 5th toughest MWC schedule to date.
Noted teams in the 10 weakest schedules (so far) are Iowa, AFA, Missouri, Iowa State, and TCU. Of interest is that TCU's toughest opponent so far is #284 (USU's weakest is #145). And yet TCU is not undefeated.
USU has had a season to be very satisfied with so far.

I think the post from Blitz is a tongue in cheek reminder of the debate that we had on this board about a decade ago as to whether we were the worst undefeated (and later the worst one loss team) in the nation. I love being in that conversation and in three weeks or so I would be absolutely delighted to be the worst undefeated team in the nation if we can pull it off that long.

Yeah, just continuing the old joke. Can’t remember who said it and don’t care to go look but someone was looking for a glass half empty even when we hadn’t lost a game and compared us to other undefeated teams. Some people are never happy.Cuchelain wrote:I think the post from Blitz is a tongue in cheek reminder of the debate that we had on this board about a decade ago as to whether we were the worst undefeated (and later the worst one loss team) in the nation. Yeah I think it was the 2012-13 season. If I remember correctly the question was whether or not we were the worst 7-1 team in the country.Cuchelain wrote: ↑November 25th, 2022, 7:05 pmI think the post from Blitz is a tongue in cheek reminder of the debate that we had on this board about a decade ago as to whether we were the worst undefeated (and later the worst one loss team) in the nation. Re: Usu #46 at 5-0 on Kenpom
That is the correct season. We were 14-1, and CERTAINLY the worst 1 loss team in the country at that time. We even proved it by losing to UT-Arlington THRICE that season (a statistical impossibility, as has also been discussed on this board.)Blitz79 wrote: ↑November 27th, 2022, 8:51 pmYeah I think it was the 2012-13 season. I heard a bit of the Ken Pom interview on the radio with Scotty G. He mentioned that we were the best of the Utah teams. He said our numbers look pretty good.

I don't want to be a downer here, but I'm not that upset we're not playing BYU this year. Even if we're the better team, history has shown we'd find a way to lose that game.

The fact that byu beat us one season as their only win just proves we are always their super bowl rightNVAggie wrote:I heard a bit of the Ken Pom interview on the radio with Scotty G. He mentioned that we were the best of the Utah teams. He said our numbers look pretty good.

I don't know the KenPom algorithm or how he collects his innumerable amounts of data. But it is intriguing to realize that his ratings have no such thing as an eye test.
Attending the Oral Roberts game in Logan had no impact on his rating of the team.

The eye test only works if you have a properly calibrated eye. To calibrate one's eye, they must stare into Jay Bilas's eyes for 30 minutes straight. It is a very difficult calibration.
