Oral Roberts
What a game! If we don’t shoot as well as we did, we easily lose that game. It took everything we had to keep them at bay and even then it was tied 77-77 late. Then Ashworth happened. What a stud!
Another huge moment late was Hamoda taking over defensive duties on #11 Jurgens who had been channeling his inner Maldonado and was just backing us in and over powering us Hamoda our a stop to that with an amazing block.
Every adjustment we made to take away something they were doing, they just moved onto the next guy who seemed to be just as dangerous. It started with #2 who was driving in on us every time and put Bairstow and Hamoda into foul trouble early. We took that away and it was the 7’5” center hitting 3’s from outside. When we adjusted to that, then it was the 2 guards killing us inside and out. When we got that sorted then it was Jurgens going Maldonado on us. That was a really good team. Props to them for hitting shots and staying with it even when we were hitting them with a barrage of 3’s. KenPom has them as our toughest game to date. I doubted it coming into the game but I stand corrected. Fun game!

Re: Oral Roberts
I would like us to abandon our defensive strategy of having Jones or Ashworth winding up guarding the other team’s center — especially if he’s 7’-5”.

Re: Oral Roberts
Really good game. ORU is a good team who is unique with their center who plays away from the basket and sets a lot of screens. The Aggies made enough plays to win. Proud of the team. Ashworth is playing so well this year. It is great to see him and Dan impact the game so much off the bench.

Re: Oral Roberts
Coming into tonight KenPom had Oral Roberts offense ranked 39th and their defense ranked 232nd. The game probably went about how it should have. They know how to score for sure but they don't have any idea how to stop the other team from scoring. They did force some turnovers and did a couple of good things on defense but we were able to score 95 points.

Re: Oral Roberts
You’re probably right on that, but how many points did they get when that switch happened? Except for his threes I don’t think many

Re: Oral Roberts
I loved seeing mouse in the house. Jones in the paint with their big 7' center. Seen it play out a lot in the pros. A strong guard and a really thin/tall center getting matched up.
Good coaching amigos.

Re: Oral Roberts
I thought it worked. vanover missed all his hook shots over ashworth. I think the size difference threw off his groove.

So happy I made the hour drive to watch that game! Ashworth was shooting lights out. It was fun to witness in person!

Re: Oral Roberts
He was dumb and never dunked on Ashworth. Why in the world would you try a hook shot over someone almost 3 feet smaller than you are I’ll never know.utaggies wrote:He may have missed his hook shots but he didn’t miss his dunks.sam tingey wrote: ↑November 23rd, 2022, 10:46 pmI thought it worked. vanover missed all his hook shots over ashworth.
