Bairstow's technical

Post by Gidbob » November 15th, 2022, 12:11 pm

A tech for raising his arms up towards the stands seems a little ridiculous. Was there something else he did that I missed?

He was raised toward the ref wanting a foul. I agree that it was ridiculous though.

I was sitting right there and saw that whole thing. He wasn’t looking at the ref after the initial complaint. Most of the hand raising then was directed to the fans, seemed almost in surprise that it went in.

In the NBA, Jayson Tatum got a technical last night for a single loud clap, not in anyone face, after being called for a foul. In both cases, I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt and say that it's early season for refs too.

Seemed to me that the arms raised was towards the crowd but the ref nearby took it as being a gesture towards him. Just before the free throws were shot you can see him talking to the ref about it.

If it was a closer game they probably would have raised a bigger fuss about it.

Bairstow's technical

Couldn’t tell from my angle who he was looking at but even if it was the ref it was by no means a stare down. MAYBE 2 seconds and he turned around.

Please let this be the season where Bairstow makes the majority of his shots around the rim.

It looks like he has solved the problem with missing shots at the rim -- he is shooting turn-around, fade away jumpers now. This takes him away from the rim.

I thought I saw Bairstow say something to the ref besides raising his arms.

I’m paraphrasing but I believe what he said was:

You were much closer to the action than me, I was over toward the side.
