Re: Redshirts
In order to redshirt in basketball you cannot play in any games unlike the 4 for football. It is stupid in my opinion. A player should be able to play in 6-7 games in basketball and then decide to use a redshirt.

Re: Redshirts
How many games can a college basketball player play and still redshirt?
Currently, NCAA rules stipulate that if a basketball player appears in a single game, he or she can no longer redshirt. But the A10 is asking that redshirt players be permitted to serve as essentially emergency fill-ins for up to four games without burning their sit-out year.Jan 12, 2022

Re: Redshirts
Thanks for the info, I was excited to see those two play, but I’d rather wait a year than to only see them in garbage time and have them lose a year of eligibility.
Now that most the Covid players are finishing up their extra year of eligibility I would think we will see more players redshirting again.

Re: Redshirts
I don't know about the redshirtingvresuming as normal. I think the transfer portal has changed that. Players want to play and if they see a long wait for playing time from a redshirt year, to a freshman year of limited action and so on, they will get antsy and jump.nswaggie wrote: ↑November 14th, 2022, 3:56 pmThanks for the info, I was excited to see those two play, but I’d rather wait a year than to only see them in garbage time and have them lose a year of eligibility.

Re: Redshirts
I agree, I doubt it ever goes back to how it was before, I just think there will be a slight uptick now that we have extra eligibility Covid years mostly behind us. I do think there are some players who are willing to redshirt and wait for playing time, (ie local kids who don’t want to leave the state) but maybe I’m out of touch.Yossarian wrote: ↑November 14th, 2022, 4:09 pmI don't know about the redshirtingvresuming as normal. Mason can run the point but playing this year won't be necessary.MetsJetsAggies wrote: ↑November 14th, 2022, 9:34 pmWonder if Ashworth injury changes the equation at all. Can Falslev run point?

We're in season 2 of 4 with covid super seniors playing. I wouldn't consider that "mostly behind us" just yet.nswaggie wrote: ↑November 14th, 2022, 6:27 pmI agree, I doubt it ever goes back to how it was before, I just think there will be a slight uptick now that we have extra eligibility Covid years mostly behind us.
