The reason Boise has a chance with Ross is because of Tim Duryea. He coached Ronnie. There is a connection there. And maybe the kid wants to make his own path.
Is making your own path really by following the coach that recruited your Dad?

I don't know how good Ross is or isn't, but I really don't see how it reflects on USU's program if sons of former players are beating down the doors or not. How good would we be if our roster was stacked with the offspring of Stew's early 2000's teams?
Depends, do they have offers from Depaul, SMU, Saint Mary's, Boise and Oregon State?

If they do, I imagine they would be able to help our team out.

My point is, we should look at the player for their individual value and not because of their family ties.

Obviously. I assumed that was implied.

That is good point. Just because a dad played for certain school does not mean the son will want to follow in the same foot steps.
I wish byu had that problem. We seem to be the one who’s kids don’t want to play for their dads Alma mater

Did he have a scholarship offer from byu?

No but that's only because after Duryea offered him BYU knew they didn't have a chance in hell in landing him.

It'd be great if the next head coach and staff, who could be here sooner than later, understood the difference in the level of competition between the MWC and a conference like the American East. It'd also be great if the next coaching staff could recruit worth a d#$m.

I agree. Recruiting is everything in college basketball. You could be John Wooden or Phil Jackson and it would make little difference if you have American East level kids to coach. I’ll take a great recruiter over a great basketball mind every time. Same thing goes for football . If you aren’t a great recruiter as a coach you better have assistants who are.

Yes. Like I mentioned previously he beat out BYU to get us Danny's son. Duryea is a helluva recruiter.

Odom is a good coach, but it’s starting to feel like he’s a bit of a fish out of water in Logan…

Phil Jackson was a great coach, but he left the Bulls when Jordan and company left cause he knew he wouldn't have been a very good coach with the players that were left after that.
