Josip vrankic

Post by slcagg » April 1st, 2022, 6:58 am

I recall saying 4 years ago that we should go after this kid. Averaged above double digits every year. Had a great college career.

Played at wasatch academy coached by one of the aggie greats.

We should have recruited that other guy in the tweet too.

Some kid from Canada. A shoe collector or something like that.

Ok gotcha. I just wanted to make sure that we didn't miss out on a kid that could have become the greatest Aggie ever.

I will never get over the irony that Sam Merrill was a freshman with McEwen and did go on to become arguably* the greatest Aggie ever.

I remember when Mcewen committed it was a huge deal Sam Merrill wasn’t nearly as talked about as an incoming freshman. Mcewen got all the accolades his freshman year if you would have told me one of the freshman was going to become the greatest Aggie ever (in my opinion) I would’ve thought Kolby did what he said he was going to do. It was the other freshman guard that ended up playing in the NBA life is crazy.

I remember asking the question on this board when they were freshman - which player would have more career points at USU, McEwen or Merrill.

Pretty sure I would have put my money on McEwen back when they were freshman.

Pretty much everyone did. I asked the question thinking it would be Merrill.

I think I said Merrill... because I thought McEwen would leave early for the draft... :anonymous:

Folks, folks, I know we all love Sam Merrill and he is a great Aggie. However, as far as the greatest Aggie ever, that would be Wayne Estes. I know I was young, age 8 years old when I witnessed Estes first game in Logan. For the next 3 years I saw every one of Wayne’s games in Logan. I was 11 when Estes got killed. Wayne will eternally be the greatest Aggie ever. Until a player has the skill sets that Wayne had and the records Estes set, then and only then will that player be labeled as the greatest Aggie ever. I have witnessed many great Aggies in person. Cornell Green, Shaler Halimon, Marv Roberts, Nate Williams, Greg Grant, JC Carroll, and Sam Merrill. These 7 players come the closest to being Aggie greatest, but Wayne Estes still is the G.O.A.T.

And Bob Wells is still the king.
