Re: Conference Mates Offseason
We’re just one NBA player away from competing for better than 7th in the MW.Pacobag wrote: ↑April 12th, 2022, 12:36 pmIf we land a center that is a little better than the one we had two seasons ago, I think we’ll be fine…ineptimusprime wrote: ↑April 12th, 2022, 12:30 pmWell, It seems that’s what we’re left with hoping at this point. I will always be an Aggie but I am not very excited for the season or the future of our program right now.Pacobag wrote: ↑April 12th, 2022, 12:25 pmMaybe Shulga, Potter, Zee or Zapala will really surprise you next season…ineptimusprime wrote: ↑April 12th, 2022, 11:55 amThis is correct. Funk is a fantastic addition. I won’t speak for everyone else, but my concern isn’t the quality of additions (I am confident Odom will fill the last spot with someone good too), but the lack in quantity of additions.2004AG wrote: ↑April 12th, 2022, 11:46 amWe are all thrilled with Funk. We just need three more of him.ThunderAggie wrote:I would take Funk over any of the Wyoming Pac 12 transfers. Step 1: clear out end of bench.

Step 2: target and land impact transfers to fill the vacated scholarships.
I’m jealous. This proves it can be done, and shows that it should be able to get done here (Laramie can’t be any easier to recruit to).
Agreed. Lindner is going to have a very nice position waiting for him after the end of next year barring major injuries on that roster. He is proving to be a very good coach.

It’s lamenting the quality of the returning roster, the loss of two all-league guys, and trying to pencil out in my mind how we are going to be any better than 7th place again next year with replacing those guys being the only real movement. We’re banking on the conference getting worse and internal development from guys that for the most part haven’t shown much. There are pieces to work with on the returning roster, but I’d say most of the guys are all expected to contribute one level higher than their ability. It’s a Peter Principle thing we have going on here, IMO.

Re: Conference Mates Offseason
I can appreciate the professionalism of the coaching staff, but in hindsight I think it was a huge mistake not to save a spot on the staff for someone with recruiting ties in the west. I also think it was clear that some players should've been counseled out for the good of the team and for their own good.

Well, here’s another test case of whether Odom spending time on a highly regarded dude from outside our geographic footprint that has multiple options is a good use of time.
Caveat: I am all for casting a wide net in recruiting, and recruiting the East Coast too.

I am pretty sure he took a visit to USU a couple weeks ago. So I would think we are in the running.

To be fair to 22, shouldn’t this be in the other thread.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑April 12th, 2022, 2:31 pmI mean, we’ve offered? Paging 22….
Also, I know he visited Colorado… and if he did commit, what does that mean for our center position?

He did not and will not visit USU and I don't expect him to be an Aggie either.LarryTheAggie wrote: ↑April 12th, 2022, 6:31 pmI am pretty sure he took a visit to USU a couple weeks ago. So I would think we are in the running.

Just for @ineptimusprime and to elevate his anxiety this morning. This is for Boise’s almost 5 star they just signed.

What’s the story on this guy?
We don’t have the scholarship unfortunately.

Like I said, nope. He had decided by Monday Colorado is where he is going. But I'm not going to release that on a message board.

I know this should be a good thing, but the little Devil on my shoulder is whispering that maybe it is a problem. Sort of like having lazy kids in their late twenties that are a bit too comfortable at home, so they never leave.
Maybe Alford is cleaning house.

Sherfield and Cambridge seem like empty calories.
Have they ever contributed to winning basketball at Nevada?

He was the clear go to when I watched SLCC play. I think we’ll regret not going after him.

Re: Conference Mates Offseason
Jarrod Lucas of Oregon State also has NV in the top 3. Going against San Diego State and Wazzu in that one..He would be a sensational get for the Pack..But..who knows..SDSU pretty much gets anybody they want.

Averaged 10 points and 4 assist at Oklahoma. Nice addition for the rebels.

Re: Conference Mates Offseason
Braxton Meah and Deon Stroud from Fresno are in the portal. Meah was a good big for them.
CSU gets Patrick Cartier from Hillsdale, DII all american.

Thanks for the updates.
Second year in a row they bring In a d2 star. The kid they brought in this year was solid but wasn’t a high impact guy.
Both stroud and meah would be big losses.
