San Diego State leading by a football score now. Five Touchdowns to three. They would be in more trouble if they had a guy on a pregame show for being so great like their punter!

It would be great for NMSU to pull off a win.

We smoked NMSU by 30. We played well against some good teams out of conference, but just could not get over the hump in others within conference.

Some teams get better as the season progresses, others not so much.

How is it that we seemed to get worse as the season went on?

Saint Mary’s is also putting on a clinic tonight and that game we had no business losing. Aggie hoops just wasn’t the same after the Nov/Dec.

I didn't say we got worse. I simply said, not so much. Reading comprehension, please.

I guess it has been long enough I can be fine with nmsu. I hated them in the big west and wac.

Horvath shot 46.8% on 3s in the non-conference slate and 21.4% in conference games + the NIT.

Not blaming him by any means. The overwhelming majority of his 3 point attempts were good looks. But if you’re looking for a statistical difference between conference and non-conference, that is a glaring one.

A little shooting variance is all it takes to turn a good team into a very good team. It can also turn a good team into a mediocre team.

I actually believe this team got better, but not enough to matter. Justin Bean carried us at the beginning of the season with 30+ points at times. Teams found an answer for him as the season progressed and we didn't have others that could fill in the gap.

Teams like NMSU, and I admit I haven't watched them play outside of our game, would've improved at a greater rate. I know some will say that it's about match-ups or it's about if a team is clicking, but I disagree. You don't win in the tournament unless you're already clicking at the end of the year. It's rare that it's otherwise.

This post will probably draw some boos but I opined, way back, when the MWC expanded and took in USU and SJSU that I would have preferred NMSU over SJSU. I think NMSU got royally screwed at the time, and said I suspected that it was due to the objections of UNM, though of course that is just speculation. It is also speculation to say that if NMSU were in the Mountain West the league would have gotten a win today, but taking down UConn is pretty impressive.

Nmsu would be a good addition in hoops. They have completely dominated the wac for the past decade. Ineptimusprime has been fantasizing about them and utep joining the league since forever. Problem as you point out, their rival new mexico doesnt want them plus they arent in an appealing market and their football is dreadful.

It has a lot to do with Chris Jans. He is a damn good coach. He will probably be leaving NMSU for Kansas State or Mississippi State here soon.

I have been impressed with chris jans too. He does seem more likeable than the laundry list of nmsu douchebag coaches over the years from henson to mccarthy to theus to menzies.

NMSU has a tradition of good basketball teams. During the hey day of UNLV, NMSU was their only real competition in the Big West for a long time.

Outside of the potential recruiting connections in the Bay Area and theoretical TV sets (because nobody watches SJSU in the Bay Area, but they could...), you're probably not wrong to say NMSU may have been a better add.

I'd trade SJSU for NMSU in a heartbeat.
