Liquor and Porn center??? Now I've heard it all. First off, when the Marriott Center was constructed there was no hotel chain in America that had porn available to its customers. I know it's fun for the uneducated to refer to what hotels do in the 21st century with a university who carries that hotels name on it's basketball arena and charge the university with accepting money from ill gotten gain that wouldn't happen 40 years in the future but even for the more hateful aggie that's a really big stretch; unless of course you are as uneducated and ignorant as you come across by posting such stupid tripe.

Re: BYU Fans Predicting Big Win
KB - it's in reference to an older report that suggested Marriott Hotels were (at one time?) the largest distributer of both of the aforementioned vices. We Aggie fans found it ironic for OBVIOUS reasons, and it stuck. We've been calling it the L&P Center since the mid 90's dude, where you been? It’s really no different than byu fans calling Logan a “cow town”. In some respects it’s true, there are indeed cows in Logan… although I can show you plenty of cows in Provo too, but I digress. And it’s a fact that Marriott Hotels peddle the vices eschewed by the owners of byu, yet the name of one of the largest peddlers of said vices adorns the arena. What’s the problem?KBCoug wrote:SoCalAggie wrote:it's going to be extra tough to get a win over the y in the Liquor and Porn Center, and we all know it. Re: I'm totally shocked...its astounding
I am with you all the way KB. I think that BYU will definitely win this game. Home court advantage is huge in college basketball. I would bet anyone on thinks board that BYU will shoot double the free throws that USU shoots. FT's are key to a USU win as they usually are. I have no problem with BYU fans thinking they will win at the Marriott. Now by 35 points, I doubt that. We are missing our center. That is another big chink in our armor.KBCoug wrote:BYU fans thinking they'll win a home game; stop the presses because this is the first time the fans of a team have thought they'd win at home. How dare they; what disrespect, actually thinking they'll win. Why it seems like only a year ago that all the Aggie fans were saying how the Cougars would come up to the Spectrum and give their boys a spanking like they'd never received before, showing the Cougars the respect which they've always shown to that particular team.
Is this really news or noteworthy enough to get excited over? Sure, BYU fans think we'll win at home where we seldom lose; is that really so shocking? I honestly remember last year the Aggie fans thought they'd win in the spectrum where they seldom lose and I took no offense whatsoever from your predictions. There's no disrespect intended toward the Aggies in this either, at least for my part but I do find it rather funny that someone is really getting their panties in a wad because of this.
By the way, good luck on Wednesday. I hope both teams play their best and we see a heck of a well played, tough fought, clean game where the players and not the officials determine the outcome. I hope neither team has any player injured and that the fans of both teams can show the fans of their opponent some respect and remember that this is only a game, a sporting contest that in the eternal scheme of things really isn't that important.
I hope that our fans travel well and try to cause a little disruption like the Weber St. fans tried to do on our home court this past week. I do hope that USU wins but I would say we have a 1 in 5 chance of winning this one. Call me realistic.

Re: I'm totally shocked...its astounding
You're WAY off base here. Our very own freakboy's website, rpiforecast.com, pegs the Aggies' chances of coming away with a win at 22%, which is 1 in 4.545. So we have a MUCH better chance than 1 in 5.Quelch wrote:I do hope that USU wins but I would say we have a 1 in 5 chance of winning this one. Call me realistic.

Apparently some of their fans think that USU is the toughest game on their OOC schedule, a schedule that also showcases the likes of Arizona, UCLA, St. Mary's, and UTEP.
I swear, some of you just look for ANYTHING, however minute, so you can push you hate towards those guys even further. Why we care as much as we do about them is beyond me. Who the hell cares about what they think about us??? Some of you really need to cool it.

They were saying elder green. their story is he was recruited by weber when he was at slcc but he said he was going to go on a mission so no to weber at the time but then went to usu and no mission.

Brian Green is serving a mission in Logan, Utah. He is bringing fans to the Spectrum on cold winter nights and converting thousands to the gospel of Stew. I expect great things from Elder Green now since he has passed his hump day.

Ahhh. I wonder if some of the things Aggie fans yell about individual players are as obscure as that? Are there things that we yell that make the other fans/players scratch their heads and say ?sneed wrote:They were saying elder green. their story is he was recruited by weber when he was at slcc but he said he was going to go on a mission so no to weber at the time but then went to usu and no mission.

Honestly, I couldn't care less if the opposing fans understand the chants. As long as the player(s), coach(es), or team that the chant is directed at understands it, then it has achieved it's purpose.ChicAggie wrote:Are there things that we yell that make the other fans/players scratch their heads and say ?

Yes I do love the new logo. Anything that reminds me of the female reproductive system is fine by me.
Re: BYU Fans Predicting Big Win
Not sure why you guys are saying Brian Green did not serve a mission because that is not true. If you recall his recruiting, Stew got a committment from him prior to him leaving on a mission. Two years later, being 2009, he has completed his mission and on the basketball team.

Re: BYU Fans Predicting Big Win
Brian was preparing to go, but never did. Once Stavon left, Brian was there to fill his spot a year earlier than expected. But really, I don't care if Brian chose to serve or not, that's his decision. What bugs me is BYU or BYU homers stating that a players mission is playing football or basketball or whatever at BYU. Or when they come home from a wrist injury, but they find themselves playing division 1 basketball shortly after. Just be honest, if a mission is not for you, then say it. That's okay. Don't make up an excuse or justify your decision by claiming a greater calling such as sports.

Re: BYU Fans Predicting Big Win
Thanks for putting a reality spin to this thread. I couldn't agree more, ultimate. FSU is traditionally a good team, so for them to get blown out is a worry for me, for us. It is very possible that we get beat, but double digits. Weber sure thought they could win in the Spectrum. Anyway, it'll be a great game. ... and, I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN.ultimateaggie wrote:BYU has every right to talk trash about how much they are going to win this game. It's their home court advantage; I wouldn't expect anything less from any other team in the country, BYU included.
I do disagree with the fact that BYU fans are talking up a BIG win. If BYU is going to win, it will be close. Both teams have some great players and this will be an exciting game to watch. As much as I have faith in my Aggies, this is going to be a tough game, no matter what angle you are looking at it from. I am thinking the Aggies could pull out a W with the agility of Pane, the defense of Newbold, and the presence of Wesley. Time will tell.
I just think it's hilarious how some Aggie fans are getting so pissed off about BYU talking trash. We do it every chance we can get. It's old news.
Get over it.

Re: BYU Fans Predicting Big Win
FSU looked absolutely pathetic in that game. Remember, they lost a lot of talent from the team that we went up 20-0 on last year. They showed some hope but ultimately made too many mistakes in that game to win it.IdaAg93 wrote:FSU is traditionally a good team, so for them to get blown out is a worry for me, for us.
