SDSU rivalry
We are 6-4 in our last 10 vs them. Their biggest Twitter fan account can’t stop talking about us until we beat them. Between basketball success the last few years and the football win this year I think we are starting to build a little rivalry with the Aztecs.
While I’ve only seen player and coach reactions from my coach. I gotta say dutcher seems like a good dude. And for the most part the players reflect that. The program is much better acting than the show Twitter.

Re: SDSU rivalry
Dutcher has been around a long time and has coached in some BIG games. He's old school enough to not cry like a little (I can't express myself without swearing) when things don't go his way or when he loses.slcagg wrote: ↑January 27th, 2022, 6:16 amWe are 6-4 in our last 10 vs them. Pfffft. They’re our little brother. Not at all a rival.

I believe "the shot" is when this rivalry officially began at least in basketball. Football is still up in the air. Boise State and Wyoming are more rivals in football than San Diego State for now.

I have always been impressed with Dutcher. He’s a class act. When we beat him, he is complimentary and gives credit where it’s due.slcagg wrote: ↑January 27th, 2022, 6:16 amWe are 6-4 in our last 10 vs them. Re: SDSU rivalry
SDSU THINKS they deserve to be in the PAC12, but we KNOW we deserve to be in the PAC12, besides we jive with the Flagship/State School cadence that was originally established. They don't. There isn't a flagship California State University. Sorry ASSthechs!

There is no win in conference basketball I enjoy more than beating SDS. None. CSU would be next, followed by BSU/Nevada and then Wyoming.

UNLV is always a satisfying win too because they used to dominate us during the old Big West days, back when they were actually good.

Re: SDSU rivalry
I look back to USU floundering during the Duryea years. I remember thinking that there is no way USU could ever get to the level of SDSU teams and the best we could hope for was a middle of the pack finish in the league and a conference tournament game every other year or so.

Re: SDSU rivalry
I think we both have a pretty good thing going here. We've met in the last 3 conference championship in basketball and of course this year in football. We're also 3-1 in those games. That's a lot of Aggies and Aztecs in meaningful games lately. If that's not at least a budding rivalry, I don't know what is.

Re: SDSU rivalry
Matt Mitchell was the player I liked least on any of the SDSU teams and I don't even dislike him that much. The team/program is run like a high level program. They'd fit right into the PAC-12. Their fans on their message board are really good too overall. It's just the show twitter account that is a huge embarrassment to the entire university.

Re: SDSU rivalry
It’s really surprising that SDSU hasn’t shut down their Twitter or at least cleaned it up. I’m just fine with smack talk, but man personal attacks cross the line. After they made fun of Miller’s alopecia that was it for me.QuackAttackAggie wrote: ↑January 27th, 2022, 10:37 amMatt Mitchell was the player I liked least on any of the SDSU teams and I don't even dislike him that much. USU football/basketball Twitter pages didn’t hold back, and most of that is because of “the no show” Twitter behavior.

Re: SDSU rivalry
The university actually approves of what they say. I emailed their University president a while back about some tweets that really crossed some lines. They sent back some template about it being college kids just having fun and the next day tweeted out that she was repping The Show on campus.FL350Aggie wrote: ↑January 27th, 2022, 11:13 amIt’s really surprising that SDSU hasn’t shut down their Twitter or at least cleaned it up. Re: SDSU rivalry
In what world is this ok for a “university sponsored” account?
Sorry for the language but this is not even acceptable on our fam board, much less a school-approved account.
Thanks to USU football and basketball for shutting up this account.

Misspelled “fan board” but I kind of liked the typo so I kept it.

Re: SDSU rivalry
I've been saying for years now, San Diego State is an unserious university. It's a place you can go party and hang out at the beach for four years and get handed a diploma at the end. No judgment, that's certainly their prerogative to cultivate that kind of branding, but no self-respecting institute of higher learning would tolerate the garbage that comes from that account on a daily basis to come from an official school-sponsored account. For that matter, no alumni base of a self-respecting institute of higher learning would tolerate it either.
If they had even the slightest bit of academic prowess they'd probably be in the PAC-12 by now. But everyone knows who they are and what they're all about down there, so they have to stay in a conference they think they're too good for and wait for someone to notice them while they simultaneously get waxed routinely by a bunch of white kids from Utah.

I feel for the poor kid who does "the show" Twitter. His mom took his phone away in the second half of the CCG football game and he wasn't able to keep posting. Last night's game obviously went past his bedtime since he quit posting in the second half. It's amazing how active he is prior to games against us in light of the silence after our games.

Aha!! Certainly a prime suspect. That is one troll I really don't miss just because he wasn't even mediocre at his craft, and just trolled his way into being cheap entertainment.
Re: SDSU rivalry
I have no problem with what they tweet, they are in college, they have an edge to them. Our student section used to have an edge as well when Faf ran the show. I miss it. But if you are going to talk the talk, you better walk the walk. I have noticed the Aztec student section is not very full this year. Also, if you are going to talk (I can't express myself without swearing), you can't disappear.

Re: SDSU rivalry
My favorite part about “The Show” is that they genuinely believe they started the “I Believe” chant. There multiple articles written and they all say the same thing. Navy created it. USU perfected it. And then came SDSU bragging about starting it several years later.
