If Brock gets us to our 4th NCAA tournament

Post by SLB » January 20th, 2022, 1:32 pm

He should be a first ballot in the Aggies Hall of Fame for his guts alone.

Question:

Which is the more valuable player -- Brock Miller or Tyler Newbold?

Miller is willing to give his back for us to have a 4th NCAA tournament bid in a row is next level toughness. It reminds me of Ronnie Lott cutting his finger off to get back to football sooner.

Emmett White gave his knees for the football team.

That still doesn't answer my question.

I don't mean to be antagonistic, but I was just wondering what your metric for USU Hall of Fame inclusion was. Both players played essentially the same position on the court and both are considered "role players" as opposed to primary offensive options. Miller is regarded as, primarily, a shooter and offensive player. Newbold was hailed as a defensive stopper and that was his primary contribution to his teams. Looking at their stats, it would appear Newbold was much better at offense than Miller has been at defense.

Player/career FG%/career 3PT FG%/career rpg/ career apg/career spg

Newbold/44.8%/40.7%/3.8/2.6/0.5

Miller/37.3%/34.4%/2.1/1.0/0.4

Newbold would be the best shooter on the team this year, by far. He would probably even be the best player on the team, with all due respect to Justin Bean. If either of these guys is considered for HOF inclusion, it should be Newbold by a landslide, even considering Miller has given his back for the cause.

My vote? This man:

and yes, I have been saving that pic in my back pocket for quite sometime just waiting for Newbold to come up in a thread....don't judge (me or him).

Brito should be first ballot Aggie HOF for his F-bomb on national TV.

Brock has tried hard and is a great teammate. When his shots fall, it's great. Kudos for that. Let's put him with other players like Jardine and all other broken face, mask-wearing players. If Berger wasn't a dick, him playing with a bad heart could have been on the "injury "HOF list.

Brito's inflatable riding and F-bomb comment put him near the top, along with Stew's "stop throwing sheet on the floor" and his run-in with the NMSU player. Also his sweep dance. Big Blue Pete attack and the water bomb are all in the "Antics" HOF.

We could have a Defense HOF, a Dunk HOF, fist fight HOF, ........

Where is GameFaqs and his videos? We need to relive the Brito Bomb and pool toy video again.

I am not debating who is the better player, but Miller is giving up his back for the NCAA tournament for 2 years is notable. If he comes backs and gets us there, we should give Miller deserve serious praise.

No offense, but playing hurt does not make you a good player. Millers stats won't even get him a look. This is extremely disrespectful to the players who have earned HOF consideration.

So a player who decides to play despite some pain and potential long term health implications is playing for completely unselfish reasons and should be considered one of the all time greats…. Got it.

Aggie Hall of Fame is a given along with his jersey being retired. At this point we need to be debating how big the Brock Miller statue outside the Spectrum is going to be. My vote is for twice the size of the Merlin Olsen statue. We also need to decide if we are going to have a Brock Miller holiday or celebrate his greatness for a full week each year.

I wouldn't trade one Tyler Newbold for 10 healthy Brock Millers.

No disrespect to Miller, but come on.

Change the name of the Spectrum to "The Brock".
Name the street running past "The Brock" to Miller Avenue, speed limit is 30 in honor of the three-point shot.
Retire his seat on the bench.
Donate his headband to the Smithsonian.
Begin the internet trend of all things Brock, similar to what is done for Chuck Norris. Example: Brock sold his soul to the Devil and won it back in a three-point shooting contest.
Thou shalt not covet is actually a reference to his perfect shooting form.

Kidding aside. I do think it would be a cool tribute if the entire team sported headbands on Senior Night to honor him.

And shaved their heads.

I like Brock. He has been a 4-year starter and contributor on some very good Aggie teams. He hasn't been HOF worthy, but he has had his moments and has given it everything he has. I appreciate what he has done at USU.

We lost four in a row without Brock...just saying. Granted he can be streaky, but if on the arc, he will be guarded, spreading out the defense. While not an all-league shooting percentage at 41%, it still warrants respect. His 3-pt FG% is 34%, which if my math is right, is the equivalent of a guy shooting 50% from 2-point range.
