Wyoming
Wyoming went on the road and beat Nevada by 10. Wyoming has proven to be one of the better teams in conference. They have two guys who can get a look any given possession (Ike/Maldanado), and the best 3 point shooter in the conference (Jeffries). Well coached as well.
It's just a reminder of how small the margin of error is in the conference this year. If we end up somewhere in the middle of the non-conference and conference play up to this point in terms of 3 point %, we can beat anyone. If we don't, we can lose to almost anyone. As long as the team realizes that and maintains self-belief, the 3 point shooting will come around (not back to 38%, but to that 32-34% range) and we will finish better in conference than some might expect right now.

Re: Wyoming
So USU has lost games to the top two teams in the conferences by a combined 5 points (or something) and had a shot at the end of each game to win it. Given where we were at going into the season, I can live with that.

Re: Wyoming
We have always been begging the bottom half of the conference to step it up. Well... what did we expect would happen when they did get better??

Re: Wyoming
I am amazed USU was even in the games with how terrible our shooting has been. Odom must be working some sort of magic outside of getting his players to hit shots

Re: Wyoming
I think we can all live with that. In fact, we'll have all March to live with it while other fans are cheering on their teams in post season tournaments.

Re: Wyoming
So long as USU's NET rating doesn't go much lower, I think there could be a decent chance of a NIT invitation. That could largely depend on how many of the auto NIT bids are taken versus the availability of at-large slots. The next three games will be huge for keeping any post-season hopes alive. If the shooting woes are at least somewhat behind us, 2-1 is a possibility but 1-2 would have to be a minimum.

Re: Wyoming
We would have to go 7-1 against Quad 1 and 2 for the rest of the year and undefeated against the rest to even sniff at large consideration

Re: Wyoming
The AF and UC Davis game (or whatever UC team we played) will be the games that cost us a tourney bid if we make a run and end up on the bubble; they also show our extreme downside potential.
