Getting some good minutes tonight.

Queta had a huge play to get the Kings the ball back with 15 sec but Fox couldn’t hit the game winner. He had some good putbacks and overall played pretty good for getting the most minutes in his young career. He had 11 points and 5 rebounds as well as an assist and a steal.

He also had +8 which was the highest on the kings team. I’m happy for him and hope he gets more chances!

Nah, they fit the bill. Teachable, focused on fundamentals, not going to have issues off the court, played defense, coachable, teamwork and passing versus athleticism... Not that Tai needed to fit the bill, being from the pre-Smith era.

I wouldn't discount Tai so easily. Tai is easily one of the all-time greats. He is top 10 in 13 career categories for the Aggies. Top 12 in 15. He's on the list for pretty much every main category. Points, Assists, Steals, Blocks, Rebounds. And his efficiency was off the charts (5th All-Time in Career Field Goal Percentage). He did everything for us on the court. Extreme efficiency, toughness, defense. He came in and pretty much started his entire career (all but 11 games, one of which where he came off the bench to allow Seniors to start on Senior Night).

Yep, Tai is very underrated. His scoring wasn't up with Jaycee and Merrill, but as you point out he did everything and was the anchor of the greatest four years(as far as total wins) in USU history including only losing once in the Spectrum in 4 years.

Queta deserves to have his jersey retired. Let’s be honest, any Utah State player who gets drafted belongs in the rafters. Queta helped us get to the tourney 3 years and put up unreal numbers. Had he not played with Sam it wouldn’t be a question but I feel like his impact is overlooked a bit.

Wesley was definitely a great! His senior year when he won conference player of the year, the team went 30-4 and could have gone undefeated had he stayed out of foul trouble.

Against a Sweet Sixteen byu team, Wesley only played 25 minutes before fouling out, but still scored 19 on 9/11 shooting in what would be a close loss.

Against Georgetown, the team lost by 17, but the game was neck and neck until Wesley got in foul trouble. He only played 20 minutes before fouling out.

Our 1 conference loss that year was in Idaho where Wesley had a double double, but again fouled out in a close game.

In the NCAA tournament, he played great. Led the game in rebouding and had 18 pts on 7-10 shooting, but you guessed it, more foul trouble. He fouled out again in a close loss.

Utah State went undefeated in 2010-11 when Wesley didn't foul out of a game and I would bet money USU was in the + in all four of those losses when he was on the court. He deserves to be considered among the Aggie greats and as one of the most valuable players to his team in USU history. His only negative was of course constantly getting into foul trouble.

I honestly don't know. When he finished out in the Spectrum I think they said it had to be 5 years before they would retire a number. No question he should be retired. I would retire Sam and Queta as well. Tai probably should be but for whatever reason he has gotten lost in the mix.

Tai was awesome. He was the subject of one of the best Stew quotes of all time. I’m sure I’ll butcher it but it was something along the lines of:

“When it comes to fouling out or fouling at inopportune times, Tai just can’t help himself—just like I can’t help opening the refrigerator every time I walk past it.”

Just to be clear, we have 2 retired NUMBERS. The others are retired JERSEYS.

I think you could retire the jersey for some of these individuals as I think that is still an honor. Grant’s jersey is retired, so Sam $ Merrill could still wear that number.

If both Grant and Merrill used that number, then it definitely needs to be retired. Either that, or it has to be earned, like you have to be an active player in the top 10 all time in a few categories to be allowed to wear it, or something like that.
