The next game Brock plays in
he should be coming off the bench for a few minutes and NOT starting.
I will say that I'm sure he is a very great person and great teammate, always there for the team and tries his hardest. And while he deserved the criticism he got early and played better last year before he had his back injury, the fact is he DOES have the injury hampering him, and there was a question as to if he would have to medically retire cause of it. Even though the answer would ultimately be that he was able to keep playing, that doesn't mean he was the same.
And the fact is, passing doctor's tests to narrowly be cleared to play by the skin of their teeth, and being fully healthy and 100 percent like you never got hurt, are two totally different things.
And considering he was not cleared to play this game, there is no way he would go from that to being able to play starter minutes, and if we are going to play him the first game after he passes doctors tests, he should be coming off the bench for just a few minutes like how we broke in Queta after his injury, to see if he plays better in his few minutes off the bench before we even think about moving him back to his starting spot.

Re: The next game Brock plays in
I'm truly not out to trash on Brock. There seems to be better flow to our offense when he's not on the floor. It's almost like he takes 3s and clanks them at the worst possible time. But maybe I'm wrong. It just felt different for us. Him being hurt all the time for sure hurts him and us.GameFAQSAggie wrote: ↑January 9th, 2022, 9:24 pmhe should be coming off the bench for a few minutes and NOT starting.

This has aged beautifully tonight with the fantastic game Bairstow is having.aggiesdidwhat wrote: ↑January 9th, 2022, 9:38 pmI'm truly not out to trash on Brock. Re: The next game Brock plays in
Brock literally relies on the team to create shots for him.
A clumsy bumbling Bairstow can at least get to the bucket or take someone off the dribble.
Brock doesn’t even give us good 3 point shooting at this stage.

Re: The next game Brock plays in
I know Bean’s development gets talked about a lot, and rightfully so, but I might be even more blown away seeing how Bairstow has developed. He was rough last year and became pretty much unplayable under Smith down the stretch. And now he’s becoming one of our best iso scorers.
Better coaching fit? Dude just put in work in the off-season? Idk but I think he’s proven to be a starter on this team.

Our zone defense is really good, with his length he makes things difficult.SwaggieAggie wrote: ↑January 12th, 2022, 9:10 pmI know Bean’s development gets talked about a lot, and rightfully so, but I might be even more blown away seeing how Bairstow has developed. Re: The next game Brock plays in
The next game Brock plays in should be senior night. I appreciate all that Brock has done as an Aggie, but he seems unable to play at a competative level anymore.

Re: The next game Brock plays in
I think Sean put in a lot of work but I think he always did. I believe Craig just had his rotation set which didn't allow for a guy like Bairstow to freeflow and create for himself. He wasn't going to let Sean iso and back down a smaller guard in the post when he had Neemi already set up on the block.
I think this lineup and coaching style better suits Bairstow's game.

Re: The next game Brock plays in
Brock is a spot up three-point shooter. He gets his shots from set plays and defensive break downs. Not a bad trait at all but would fit better in an offense with a strong post player, such as Queta, where the ball gets kicked back to the perimeter and rotated to the open shooter. Similar to what Roddy/CSU did to us last night.

Re: The next game Brock plays in
I agree with this. Right now, we are an offense that’s needs movement and ability to dribble penetrate and make passes to cutters. Miller will do fine to stretch the defense at times but Bairstow has proven he needs to be getting the lions share of minutes after the 3.FloridaAggie13 wrote:Brock is a spot up three-point shooter. Re: The next game Brock plays in
I would be very much for this on principle. In fact, start him, even if it's just a token start. The thing that does give me pause, though, is that Senior night will be against CSU again. If we do this for Brock (and I'd like to), he may only get a handful of minutes unless he just goes on a tear.
