Nemi and Sam
Any news on these guys? Are they in the G league, or on the bench? It looks like Dam is listed in the roster for tonight’s game against the bucks. Nemi didn’t play in last night’s preseason opener?

For a guy that was basically an iron man in college, he sure seems to have a lot of ankle issues now that he's in the pros. I wonder what the story is behind that?

If I remember right he had ankle issues while at USU. Mid-season his senior year, I believe. From a personal perspective, once you start having troubles it's hard to get back to 100%. Steph Curry fought this for a while and I remember reading he went through quite a training regimen to overcome.

Kangs gonna Kangs.
I also know we all love Nemi, but the writing was on the wall when he got a two-way contract and the Kings decided to sign or trade for the “who’s who” of average but playable NBA centers. If he’s getting DNp-CDs in preseason games that don’t matter, don’t bother following the Kings season.

Both played tonight, but not much. Disappointed Merrill only played 6 minutes in a 35 pt preseason blowout. Hopefully he gets more of a chance against the Pacers on Wednesday. Otherwise he is probably destined for the G League this year.

So I know I care too much about Sam making the grizzlies roster, but I really want him to. Everything I read states the final roster spot is down to him and Kriss Dunn. How can they possibly pick based on the lack of preseason playing time between them. My guess is the pick the higher draft pick and go with Dunn.

According to the tweet thread announcing his trade from Milwaukee to Memphis, Sam's 2021 contract became fully guaranteed on 8/8. Even if they cut him they owe him the full $1.5 million. (FWIW, Dunn's owed $5 million this year and it's also guaranteed...not sure how it works from a cap standpoint if they cut someone.)

Sam started tonight and hit 4 of his first 5 3 pointers. That's the Sam we all know and love!

Well they were without Brogdon, Lavert and Warren; 3 of their best players. With that said, this was very impressive for Merrill. Merrill is a legit NBA player. I've had my doubts at some points, but the guy can flat out play when given a chance. The conversation really now shifts from will Merrill stick in the NBA to just how good of a player can he be?

He's leaning into his role as a shooter. He made himself into a facilitator at USU, but his role in the NBA will be different. Also, he's visibly more lean.

Not surprised. In college, every game from his sophomore year on, he was the best player on the court. I wonder how he was defensively in the game. The guy can play and hopefully, he gets a chance. I'd like to see him play with Ja. The way that guy can penetrate team's d, I bet Sam would get a lot of open looks.
