Good book I just read about Ryan Odom

Post by Aggie formerly in Hawaii » September 12th, 2021, 5:49 pm

I just read U Must be Cinderella which is about UMBC's 16 seed victory over Virginia in 2018. A lot of the book is about Odom, his coaching and even his personal life. UMBC's basketball program was garbage when he took over and by year 2 he had them winning the conference and of course arguably the biggest upset in tournament history. How he motivates his players is shown in the book. If people are worried that Craig Smith's enthusiasm will be missed, I don't think you have much to fear with Odom coming in. He is a guy who can get the best out of his players along with motivation before a big game. His X's and O's are well known, but the guy flat out outcoached one of the best coaches in America in Tony Bennett. Brandon Horvath also is mentioned in the book a few times. He was a freshman on that team that beat Virginia.

If you need anything else to get you more excited about the Ryan Odom era in Logan I'd check it out. It is quick read, you can finish it on a cross country plane ride. Here is a link:
