Knock on wood, cause there’s always the conference tourney, but it looks like no disappointing loss to UNLV in the T&M is on the menu this year.

Lots of Saturday home games on the schedule. Hopefully, that means more CBS nationally televised games like we had for one of the SDSU games last season.
I also like having CSU as Senior Night with them supposed to be really good this year. It should make for a really good final game in the Spectrum for the year.

In a shocking turn of events the Pack actually gets to play USU in Reno..I was still just a little boy the last time that happened.

When was the last time we played in Reno. Was it the year we tied for the conference title?

Yep. January 2, 2019 - lost to Caroline and the Martin twins by 23 in the conference opener. We won the rematch, though lost a fire extinguisher door. '19-'20 we only played them once in the 18-game schedule, in Logan. '20-'21 we played them twice in Logan in the 20-game, two-game road trip schedule.

I think they miss us -- clearly nvspuds does :)

I'm sure delta variant will change that @nvspuds. Plan on being in Logan for a two spot.

Bummer - no game in Vegas. The easiest one for me to attend. Probably not a bad thing in general as we rarely win regular season games in the Thomas and Mack - even when we have the better team, which has been the case of late.

When do we expect the OOC to be completely finalized? I imagine it has to be fairly soon.

Here is a little quiz to get through a hot and boring Wednesday.

With no insider knowledge, very sparse scientific thought and completely non binding ideas...

Here is my guess for your starting 5 and first 3 guys off the pine..

Jones PG

Eytle-Rock SG

Miller. SG

Horvath F/C

Bean F

Bairstow, Shulga and Ashworth...........Dorius, could crack the top 8 but I have a hunch your new coach will spread the floor with quicker guys.

The usual caveats regarding injuries apply

So I am interested in your guesses for the Nevada 8,,

You are probably pretty close, but I would add Thelisson to that rotation. We are hearing good things about him.

I was just guessing based upon D-1 experience..This fellow Thelisson might be a stud though..I certainly wouldn't know at this point..

But I am interested in all your guesses about Nevada..I really don't know who starts outside of Sherfield and Cambridge

I don't think you are wrong here but the three guys coming off the bench are all in 1-3 positions. That would mean no rest for Horvath and Bean. It's been said that Theillsen (spelling) may be great but no one knows, I also think he is a 3. So that means that we need a 4/5 off the bench. I think Dorius will see plenty of time when we want to go big but may have games he doesn't see the court at all. Potter, who is a freshman, that no one knows if he can contribute this year at this level. And Zapala, who Smith said was an NBA prospect but looked to me to be slow, uncoordinated and a long-term prospect at best. Maybe Thiellsen can play the four in small-ball but again I don't know if he can play the 4 and he is an unknown at this level. Between Dorius, Potter, and Zapala we need to come up with 20 minutes a night.

Still middle of the work day... gotta give me some time this evening once the kids are in bed to review your team and make some very uninformed, too-early predictions. :)

Not sure who comes off the bench, but I could see Nevada going smaller as well with this lineup:
Sherfield - G
Cambridge - G
Blackshear - G
Coleman - F
Washington - C

Zapala and NBA prospect go together like me and low carb diet.

Well, to be honest, we really don't know much about the Nevada roster.

I appreciate you coming here to give us some insight, but otherwise, don't know enough to try to predict.

Sorry Spuds, last time I’d looked the 2021-2022 roster hadn’t been posted but it is now. Tough call, but the only guys I could see breaking into the starting lineup is maybe Baker or Bramah. I’ll guess

Sherfield
Cambridge
Coleman
Foster
Washington

Bramah
Hymes
Baker
Blackshear
Henry

Nevada will have the best backcourt in the conference and versatility down the line. Can match up against bigger or smaller rosters. Nevada is my preseason pick to win the conference.

Yeah, Sheffield and Cambridge are a nasty combo in the backcourt. I can’t wait for basketball to start. Hopefully we have some solid conference preseason play. It would be really fun if UNM and UNLV could be good again.

I think that is pretty close..I think they may start a 4 guard, one big lineup. I would guess Bramah, who is a big guard/sf will play the 4. Foster will fill in at the 1 and the 2, Blackshear will be in the mix at the 2/3 along with Coleman. Hymes will play C/F. Wild cards are the two freshmen..Weaver and Davidson..They are both good an may emerge as the season progresses..

As long as the guards can all shoot, a 4 guard, 1 big line up could be killer in the college game.

Bramah averaged 22 points a game at Robert Morris without even attempting a 3..He also got 10 boards a game. I think that is what is intriguing to Alford..A really athletic 3 who can play the 4..

Of course, much like your two kids your coach brought with him we don't how their game's and production will translate to the MW..

OK, I'll play with my uninformedness. I was going to post something preposterous that didn't include Sherfield but I'm repenting.

Coleman
Hymes
Washington

Blackshear
Baker
