Not seeing him on the roster. Is he not coming?

He's back in Bahrain practicing for the FIBA tournament, where's he's representing his country. That tourney runs until mid-August. I don't know anything on the school/roster side, but he was here in Utah then went back to train for FIBA. Unless someone has insider info to the contrary, I expect him back once Bahrain gets eliminated or wins it all.

I really don't intend to make a stink of it (heaven knows it has been hashed and re-hashed around here) but I do want to laugh at how white this team is. (It doesn't help that Shulga is almost clear. ) Thank heavens for Eytle-Rock, Coach Crawford, and Keenan Palmore. Zee Hamoda can't get here soon enough.

My 6 year old attended the Ryan Odom basketball camp, and Max looked like a ghost. But he was very nice.

Great having Thelissen here. Hamoda is a prime candidate to redshirt.

Excited for this team. Think they will surprise some folks this year.

I would also expect Hamoda to RS this year. His athleticism will be nice to have on the team. Regarding Thelissen, do we think he will be more game ready this season and not red shirt? Any rat ball reports or anything on how he looks? I'm hoping he can step right in and contribute this year but you never know with international players.

Norbert Thelissen is expected to be a MAJOR contributor.

We need a couple of break out players to be competitive this year. Hopefully Zapala and Shulga will surprise. Thelissen needs to be a major contributor. I just don't see many needle movers on this team.

In regards to Shulga, remember, he played most of last season at just 17 years old. He's got lots of time to improve.

We could be really good, or just really “meh.” I do have a hard time seeing us worse than 6th in the MW. Just too much proven experience on our roster to be much worse than that. If Horvath and Eytle-Rock translate, and Jones follows the trajectory of his freshman year, I think we could be really good, especially if Thelissen or Hamoda surprise.

I am confident we will be a significantly better offensive team this year. The question I have is how far off a cliff does our defense fall?

My expectation is fourth or fifth place in the conference. But I think our range is anywhere from 1st to 6th, just depending on how things come together.

I would include Miller in that list since he's a proven Mountain West contributor, I know many don't like him but he has shown he contributes at this level. I'm hoping Zapala and Shulga make a big step forward but not counting on it, IMO, Shulga has a chance to be a contributor, Zapala seemed a long way away so I'm not expecting anything. We do have Ashworth and Dorius too, both were inconsistent but showed that they could be MW level contributors. I feel we have a starting 5 that are solid MW level and hope for a few off the bench even if they aren't needle movers if they can minimize the dropoff then even 2-3 would give us the rotation that we need. The good thing is most MW teams are not deep and we won't be penalized much without a strong, deep bench.
