My favorite spot for Neemi that I’ve seen him
mocked is second round to Memphis. I’d love him with that young core.
Having Ja Morant to throw lobs would be a big positive for him.
Has Dillon Brooks been traded somewhere in this scenario?

I would hope so. It would make watching the Grizzlies more palatable.

Back in college he graced the world the best (worst?) basketball flop of all time:

from John Hollinger of the Athletic with his top 70 draft prospect

22. Neemias Queta, C, Utah State, Junior

My membership in the Neemias Queta fan club is already well established, so I won’t go too deep down the rabbit hole this time. Suffice to say that despite my general misgivings about drafting centers, I think the 7-foot Queta can offer a lot of value and some relative upside.

Queta still has to get better defending away from the basket, and that’s a concern for any big man in today’s NBA. The Aggies always played him in a deep drop, so he didn’t get many chances to show perimeter quickness, but his rare forays away from the charge circle weren’t tragic. He’s a little slow laterally but not as bad as some other fives getting more draft hype, plus he showed a real ability to close down space and block shots from behind at the basket.

Offensively, Queta added something to his game every year at Utah State, and by the end, he was a legitimately good passer who also had a variety of one-on-one moves to score on the block. Utah State’s plodding pace masked just how effective he was: Queta averaged 30 points and six assists per 100 possessions in Mountain West play. For comparison, Cade Cunningham averaged 31 and five.

This train is still going up. Queta arrived at Utah State as a raw freshman from Portugal and has added bits and pieces to his game since. His skill level can still go forward from here, but he’ll always be 7 feet tall.

To me Queta has either Houston, Toronto, Milwaukee, Dallas or OKC written all over him. Based on my perceived team needs and cultures.

Looking at draft order

23/24 to Houston
31 Milwaukee
34/36 OKC
46/47 Toronto.
48 Atlanta

That’s the range I see him going.

I think I'd jump on the bucks bandwagon and cheer for them over the jazz if they keep Sam and draft Neemie.

He’s got some good momentum, I think we will be hearing his name called in a couple of days!

Yeah should be a good day for Queta. Even nbadraft.net now has him as taken 56th. On the surface that doesn't sound impressive, but their mock gave him zero love all season with him being going undrafted until recently and him being as low as 88th on their big board. When even your biggest critics are starting to notice you, you know you are doing something right.

CBS Sports' recent 2-round mock has him going at #43, to the Pelicans. https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/nba- ... m-at-no-1/

With the Pels recently picking up Valanciunas, I'm not sure it's exactly going to play out like that, but I'm really hoping to (starting to believe we might?) hear his name called tomorrow night.

my youngest boy (10) let himself fall asleep at pick 55 of something like that last year and has been kicking himself ever since. He told me yesterday: "I'm for sure going to stay awake the whole draft this time" Same, buddy...same....

It is looking good. He is now listed on ESPN's mock draft. He is on every mock draft i've seen. To compare last year Sam Merrill was only on approximately 30% of the drafts. Still never know but hoping we have back-to-back drafts with Aggies selected.
