Probably just had to collect his first endorsement check from the oil companies...
Gotta work on his big oil-sponsored signature move for drilling it from 3 pt range.

That was a beautiful, clean play by Hamoda. Almost as clean as the top tier gasoline manufactured by his sponsor, Shell. Go well, go Shell!

What a high energy play from Zee! Just like Zee tonight, ExxonMobil is taking on the world's toughest energy challenges. Support Zee by filling up with ExxonMobil on your way home from the game.

All jokes aside, you would think some of that Bahraini oil money could make Zee a rich man under the NIL rules if he’s good!

That's fair. I think most the hubbub around NIL will calm after a season or two once the pendulum swings back. Right now, though, it's fun to joke around.

BTW, Zee posted yesterday on Twitter, "Back to train". I'm guessing it's not a literal train and he's just working on basketball skills in Bahrain? Idk.

I wonder how well Neemy could have made out had the NIL been signed a year earlier. Seems he has become a mini rock star back in Portugal.

I’ve always hoped Bairstow would come out and develop into a player similar to his brother. He shoots the three well. Hopefully the new staff can find a way to use him well. I always thought coach Smith’s way of giving out minutes was weird, especially after listening to his interviews. “I was in bed the other night telling my wife I wish Porter could play more minutes, and she says, ‘well aren’t you the head coach? Cant you make that happen?’ And I thought, yeah, I suppose I can. So I started playing Abel more minutes.”

He told that story a couple of times and I always wondered what other players he had sitting around who could contribute in certain situations.

Sean has all the physical tools to be a really solid 3&D wing. Like a Mikal Bridges type. It doesn’t suit him to try to play him as a primary ballhandler or even an off-ball 2-guard, IMO. He’s best positioned for success as a 3 that focuses on playing tough D, hitting open threes, and scoring layups and lobs on cuts.

Sean will pair well with a guy like Jones that can break down defenses.

Craig got a ton of things right, but timeout usage and how he tried to use Bairstow were not among them.

I think we’re going to see a leap from Sean this year. I don’t think he’s going to be a star, but will finally be used the right way and pared with guards that can penetrate (Jones and Eytle-Rock). It allow him to shine in a complementary 3&D bench role playing solid defense, averaging 6-9 ppg, and hitting open threes at least at greater volume at a 36% or so clip. Book it.

It’ll be like when Brito became useful.

Just reported that the brackets should be officially released by the tournament officials later today but that the initial match ups are as follows:
OU / Indiana St.
ECU / ODU
Davidson / NMSU
USU / Penn

They were listed in that order which looks like it may be the way they appear on the bracket...meaning OU and USU are the top two seeds on opposite sides of the bracket.

This explains why he's back in Bahrain.

He's averaging 11.8 pts on 56.5% shooting (45.5% from 3 on just under 3 attempts per game) and 6.8 rebounds. I'm sure the competition isn't great, but I like those numbers.

Wow. I don’t have a great knowledge of the other teams, but it’s surprising we were picked with the coaching change and loss of an impact center. I hope he’s right.

We will be senior-laden next year. We will have three all-conference players in our likely starting lineup. Also have an impact P5 transfer, and return another starter in Miller and key bench guy in Ashworth.

We have no excuse not to be at least Top 5 in the MW. The experience we have should help, especially in the early season games.

I don't disagree. I'm pretty hyped up too. In fact, this is the most excited I have been about Aggie athletics across both football and basketball in my whole life. But there are still a lot of unknowns, and we often don't get the benefit of the doubt from the media.

I hope the media picks us low. I want the team to be hungry and motivated as much as possible. With the transfers our starting lineup is really solid. The one concern I have is team chemistry. We have a new coach and a lots of transfers. I hope we start out strong but might take a little time to gel.

I think the media tends to base their preseason guesses upon the previous season results..

If that holds true you will picked 2nd..

I have high hopes for this season (as per the norm before we actually begin), but I'm trying to temper my natural zeal. I think 2nd is high for us this season. Nevada and Colorado are going to be good. SDSU is always good. I think #4 is a more natural place for us until gameplay shows otherwise.

Really hard to say..I think Boise will be tough..UNLV will be much better..

SDSU still looks like the team to beat to me.

One thing is for sure is this year it looks as though the conference is going to be super deep.

Aggies picked as "team to beat" for the Myrtle Beach Invitational. Should be another fun year of Aggie Hoops! November can't come soon enough.
Wow. I don’t have a great knowledge of the other teams, but it’s surprising we were picked with the coaching change and loss of an impact center. I hope he’s right.

Oklahoma working through a coaching change, some roster re-tooling - same as the Aggies. I trust that factored into this projection.

I think you are pretty spot on with the pick about being 4th. This conference is deep this year, like real deep. However, I mimic what the rest of the forum is saying about hype about athletics this year. Despite the dumpster fire that was football last year and the gutting of our basketball program, I am going to still be the first one in line for opener in football and basketball. At the risk of knowing what happens every season when an aggie fan says this, I am hopeful.

Everything I have heard about Coach Odom and his staff screams that they are hungry and want to make a statement. The remaining seniors we have (bean, brock) have a chip on their shoulder and also something to prove. Hope is for the up and up.

I wouldn't call us deep, but I'd say that the traditional top performers all look good this year, though Boise is a bit underwhelming imo (I'm not as high on them as others, but we'll see). New Mexico and UNLV are always wild cards, and I hope they can live up to their potential, but I'm not holding my breath. Air Force and SJSU will perform poorly, as per the norm. Then Fresno and Wyoming will have moments where they shine and upset the top teams, but won't bust into the top.

Kind of a typical year, I think, as far as the spread across the conference.
