The hopefully definitive offseason thread
Re: The hopefully definitive offseason thread
I feel like SDSU and CSU will be in their own tier this year, with Nevada and USU not too far out. The conference should be very strong though, Wyoming, Boise and Fresno should all be pretty good, then even the bad teams from last year like New Mexico and San Jose have new coaches that I think will have an immediate impact. I think top to bottom the MW will be even better than it was last year.

Yep. I’d flip us and Boise, but otherwise agree with his list.Bank Shot wrote: ↑June 9th, 2021, 6:20 pmAt this point, I think he's a heck of a lot closer than Sean Paul.nvspuds wrote: ↑June 9th, 2021, 5:48 pmChris Murray checks in with his thoughts..

I laughed (with something between joy and spite) at Sean Paul's ranking of Boise, but I think Chris Murray has the better projection.Bank Shot wrote: ↑June 9th, 2021, 6:20 pmAt this point, I think he's a heck of a lot closer than Sean Paul.nvspuds wrote: ↑June 9th, 2021, 5:48 pmChris Murray checks in with his thoughts..

Is Zee Hamoda still coming? He’s not on the roster. All the other expected newcomers are now.

I also heard of another individual trying to walk onto the team. Brigham Taylor, I think? Is that accurate?

Those were my thoughts exactly. The kid was as good as any 13 yr old would be, but thoughtful and was able to use interviewing skills (open ended questions, reflection, patience) that many adult media folks don't use. Way impressed.treesap32 wrote: ↑May 21st, 2021, 11:38 amThanks for sharing the interview. I'll be honest, the kid interviewing him is obviously not polished, but his questions were on point! It was a better interview than a lot of ones I've seen from polished news media people. I wouldn't mind seeing him interview some of our other players.

Rylan Jones is playing pick-up ball down in SLC and apparently played really well against former Utah Jazz man, Rayjohn Tucker.

This is what the entire team should be doing all summer. These pick up games against better players will help them with their individual skills. I thought all of the foreign kids should have stuck around and played pickup games with these guys all summer.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑June 26th, 2021, 8:59 am

Given Tony's tweet, how is Horvath in the pick and roll (or pick and pop)? I don't feel like we have many pick and roll players on the team, but it sounds like we should get some to run with Rylan.

Re: The hopefully definitive offseason thread
Years ago in the summers, former college players and current college players from Utah, BYU, USU, and Weber (and others it of state) used to get together and play pickup games. A lot of times it was at SLCC but also in other guns around Salt Lake. I don't know if they still do this?ineptimusprime wrote: ↑June 27th, 2021, 11:17 amI guess it’s actually a pro-am tournament called Powder League.

This is great to see especially since he was injured quite a bit this season. Nice to see him healthy and playing well. I am excited to see him play this season. I do believe him and Eytle Rock will be a really nice starting guard combo.Yossarian wrote: ↑June 27th, 2021, 12:10 amThis is what the entire team should be doing all summer. I am a horrible prognosticator. I have no idea how the season will go...But I am fairly certainly the conference will again figure out a way so that USU does not have to play a basketball game in Reno again..
That just seems to be a sure thing..

Which is too bad, because some of the best Aggie games ever have been played Reno. SOW was great there.
