Thanks for the update. I would have like to see him play when he got healthy. That being said I think the addition of Norbert will be really good. He has a really solid frame and has played some professionally in Europe. Good luck to Liam.

Smith sounded pretty sold on what he could do, unless he was just blowing smoke when he was talking about how he was playing before his injury. Maybe he sees the potential and wants him there.

They should've taken him to the heart attack grill a couple times while they were there.

I wanted to see his shooting ability, which was purported to be quite good. Sad to see him go, but wish him the best of luck.

This is a bummer. I was always in the McBuckets fan club and thought he could develop into a game changer. Too bad about the injuries. Best of luck to Liam! Regarding landing spot, there really isn’t anywhere close to Prince Rupert. It’s pretty darn remote. Probably just as easy to get to Utah from there than Washington or Oregon. What’s another hour or two in the plane.
Signing Norbert does help ease the sting of this loss though.

Probably for the best. He needs to get some playing time at a lower level to really have a chance to fulfill his potential.

Not a totally fair analysis because Smith had some good recruits that transferred out, but there's a very good chance that Stew Morrill recruits (Miller) contribute more win shares to the 2021-2022 Aggies than Craig Smith recruits (Bairstow, Shulga, Zapala, Potter).

I think this is a good move for Liam and for USU. He may well have become a contributor, but his inability to get on the court for even spot minutes either due to injury or otherwise the last two seasons did not bode well for that being the case.

I think you could make the argument for sure. The counterargument is that Bairstow has actually at least been good or healthy enough to get rotation minutes.

The bumbling layup we all remember notwithstanding, my opinion remains Bairstow has the higher ceiling between Bairstow and McChesney, so I am glad he is staying.

Bairstow actually isn't even next on the list I've guys I'd be okay to see enter the portal.

Yeah, geographically Washington/Oregon are slightly closer to home but practically speaking (travel time), Lewis and Clark might actually be further from Prince Rupert.

No, but at least bairstow has contributed at times and is not injury prone. If he plays at the 3 and is not a primary ball handler he can be effective. He has a nice shot and moves well. Maybe Liams upside was higher but with a new coaching staff i think Bairstow might flourish.

I just think Bairstow plays without the inner belief and toughness that he needs. As long as he is told to not dribble the ball, he could be fine as a spot up shooter. Who’s next on your list of scholarship players?

I think Bairstow may be the biggest winner with the coaching change. I am no expert but, It seems to me that Odom is more of a fundamentals guy than Smith is. Sean has a ton of talent but needs someone to bring him back to fundamentals. Maybe Odom unleashes his potential...

I honestly hope everyone else stays, but I wouldn’t be too upset if Zapala decided to go. I don’t think it bodes well for him that he couldn’t play over Dorius, but he was a true freshman and definitely has room to improve. He needs to get the fouls and TO problems fixed.
