Re: Roster predictions
Can the flying Dutchman (well done hipster) play the 4? He looked like he could be a solid 4 as well.nswaggie wrote: ↑May 14th, 2021, 8:27 pmDepending on Miller’s Health I’d possibly give the Dutchman some of Miller’s minutes.BLUERUFiO wrote: ↑May 14th, 2021, 8:23 pm100% with you on where you’re going with this. I’d give the Flying Dutchmen all of Bairstow’s minutes to get the Dutchmen up to 20+.scotlandog wrote: ↑May 14th, 2021, 8:18 pmI thought Thelissen is supposed to be really good, a little older/mature having played a lot in Europe before coming. Do we think he is really only 10mins worthy? Only as good as Bairstow? I’ll have to go watch some film on the Flying Dutchmen and evaluate some more. I was hoping he would be good enough to contribute more.AGGIEinIOWA wrote:So with the 14=13 mystery solved we have a clearer roster now and I’ll take a stab.
Jones (25), Ashworth (15)
Eytle-Rock (25), Shulga (15)
Miller (20), Bairstow (10), Thelissen (10)
Bean (30), Horvath (10)
Horvath (20), Dorius (10), Zapala (10)
I think possibly 2 of Potter, Brenchley, and Hamoda redshirt, unless any of them are too good to keep off the floor or an injury happens ahead of them. I don’t think Wickizer sees any meaningful minutes.

Re: Roster predictions
After rewatching his highlight video (I know, highlight videos make everybody look good..) he seems to bring a lot of things to the court. He can shoot from 3 at 40%, he crashes the boards, he is a good rim protector for his size(6’7” with 6’10” wingspan), he posts up and looks competent and comfortable with his back to the basket, he drives and finishes, he attacks the rim for put backs. I’m not sure of his defensive ability other than blocking shots on help defense. I’m sure he can be as good defensively as Miller and with his 3% alone he should be taking some minutes from Miller but add in the other aspects and he should really be competing for serious minutes. Obviously he has to show Coach he can do those things at this level but given his experience/age I am more confident that he can do that than some other Euro players. I have high hopes for him.nswaggie wrote:Depending on Miller’s Health I’d possibly give the Dutchman some of Miller’s minutes.BLUERUFiO wrote: ↑May 14th, 2021, 8:23 pm100% with you on where you’re going with this. Re: Roster predictions
I think the general thinking is he will redshirt. If he is too good to redshirt, all the better for us.slcagg wrote:It’s been reported he will be here.

Re: Roster predictions
I'm going to stop from making predictions and prognostications about redshirting and the roster. I thought that Ashworth would start at PG, Rollie would redshirt, and one of the two Euros would beat out Miller for starting. At 0 for 3, I'll just cool my hype this year, and wait to see how things shape out after practices form the team a bit better.scotlandog wrote: ↑May 14th, 2021, 10:24 pmI think the general thinking is he will redshirt. Re: Roster predictions
I think that is the case right now, but with the limit of a single free transfer in the future, that could move back towards the normal we had been used to.

Re: Roster predictions
With the transfer portal and the way players are using it, why would any school redshirt a kid? Tomorrow is not guaranteed.scotlandog wrote: ↑May 14th, 2021, 10:24 pmI think the general thinking is he will redshirt.
