What would you do?
If you were in Odom's shoes how would you approach guys who enter the transfer portal but then determine to return?
Would you follow the Gary Anderson view of "you quit on us, so we quit on you"? Odom let Shulga come back so maybe that tells us all we need to know about him, but I'm curious what others on this message board think.
Personally I would be nervous about the precedent I'd be setting that players were free to flirt and they'd always have a safe landing spot. Not to mention the difficulty of recruiting when players are playing hokey pokey with the portal.
On the flip side these are young men, prone to impulsivity, and they make mistakes when it comes to the transfer portal as well as interactions with teammates and coaches. In our case they lost the coach that brought them to this school and so it's natural to want to follow him.

Re: What would you do?
In this case, I can understand the argument for players leaving because of following a coach. However, if they have a habit of doing this, then that would raise an alarm. So, it depends on the player and their history. If they have a history of off the court antics that would also contribute to my decision.

Re: What would you do?
I don't think this year should be considered any kind of precedent. New coach, covid, changes to the transfer rules, eligibility freeze, there are just too many variables.
In subsequent years, if it were me, there might be some flexibility in allowing somebody back. But I'd let it be known if a player entered the portal, there would be no guarantees the spot would be available if they changed their mind. Also, if a player enters the portal a second time, they're not coming back.

Re: What would you do?
This year is unique with the extra year and the coaching change. I wouldn't blame a player to test the waters THIS year not knowing the coach, his style, and how that player would fit into the newly constructed team. If the player decides to return and commits to giving it his best effort - welcome back!
Next year, different story. Each player by then will be fully aware of what the team will look like and what the coach expects. If he puts his name in the portal next year (regardless if it's the first time), that's an automatic sayōnara!

Re: What would you do?
Any transfer you bring in went through the portal or your current coach could not even speak to them..
The portal is not a scary thing..If a kid is happy and cool with the direction the team is moving towards, he will likely stay. Or not enter the portal at all
If he has been recruited over and the coach urges him to leave, he will go
If he is really unhappy and leaves, have you lost anything?
There are lots of players and lots of reason to move out there..
However, most kids don't ever enter the portal..

Re: What would you do?
Not necessarily..There are plenty of different ways it could go, but every single Pack player went into the portal after Alford was hired. Most had interest from other schools too..All but 2 stuck around.
While I think Anderson and probably Anthony will leave, I would not be surprised at all if Worster stays. He has a nice thing in Logan and that truly may end up as his best option..

Re: What would you do?
Would let them back if you hadn't replaced them with someone better. Unfortunately we haven't exactly received good news with incoming players (or any news at all). If all of a sudden rj eytle rock commits to USU, I imagine a lot of us will have different opinions on the guys who have left. We'll be much more ready to move on than we are right now.

Re: What would you do?
With a coaching change I think it's different than in normal years. If a player enters the portal this year then I would expect them gone and recruit accordingly. If they decide they want to stay and their spot isn't filled then I think they should have the chance to stay.
Now if this was last season and they tried it I think the coach and team should have much less patience with the situation.

This post is likely straight up poor sarcasm and cannot be taken seriously.
Re: What would you do?
I don't think Marco and Rollie make those Instagram posts if they had any thought of coming back.

No way they’re coming back. I have to wonder if Worster got to experience Usu with a non-Covid environment the wouldn’t be transferring.

I agree on Marco. The way Rolllie wrote his it seemed like it is still an option but I am probably reading too much into it.
