Re: The hopefully definitive 2021 transfer portal thread
I brought up this topic about a year ago (https://www.usufans.com/Forums/viewtopi ... 59#p639559 - which is now locked for some reason), discussing Bean's NBA potential. Although he had a good year last, I was hoping to see him take a larger step forward (in terms of higher shooting percentage, PPG, RPG) so now I'm not sure.Real Life Aggie wrote: ↑June 2nd, 2021, 10:30 amFrom the article:AgMan21 wrote: ↑June 2nd, 2021, 8:21 amAccording to KSL, Bean is in the draft. Highly doubt he stays but just something to consider.
https://www.ksl.com/article/50178081/5- ... -rebounderI imagine this is him getting his name out there. He didn't get much glory last season, despite how incredible he was. But if his name is on the list, I would imagine he starts to get more recognition and then he can leverage that this upcoming season to get more notice of how great of a player he is.Bean has already publicly said he'll be back in Aggie blue next season, saying in a video on Twitter that he "can't imagine playing for anyone else" and he plans to "run it back" next season.
I don't know where Bean's skill ceiling is, but it's clear that he's incredibly talented, works hard, and wants to develop. Maybe he gets into the NBA in a year or two (esp. once he starts draining those 3s... in Bean I believe!) But I would be very surprised if he doesn't have the opportunity to play professionally.
He's such a unique player in terms of his athleticism, motor, instincts, toughness, etc. But that 3-point shot is UGLY (which is weird because he doesn't shoot that way on shorter jump shots)! Luckily, it sounds as though coach Odom will feature him as one of our go-to scorers this upcoming season. If he's ready to take on that responsibility and prove he's (at least) a capable offensive player - he may have a darkhorse chance. Either way, smart of him to put his name in.

USU athletic, not NBA athletic. He would be an average NBA athlete at best.

DPOY Green? That can guard 1-5? Green is an elite playmaker and defender. I love Bean but he is reaching Jardine level overrated by fans. He is an above-average MWC player who is 5 years older than most of his competition.

Haha, I mean, we all love Jardine, but the hype got a little out of control with him. I don't think he's achieved walking on water..........yet.

Re: The hopefully definitive 2021 transfer portal thread
Jardine was fun to watch and made some good plays. He also got robbed of a senior season where he could have really shown what he was made of as a starter and a leader.
With that said, fans have overrated him. When fans are saying he is one of the best Aggies of the last 20 years, that is a bit much.
Bean is a good college player, but no he is not Draymond Green who was an All American and no Bean will not play in the NBA. Definitely great at USU and I hope he has two more great years before leaving.

Re: The hopefully definitive 2021 transfer portal thread
Haha yeah Bean isn't draymond, however my point was there has been 6'7 players who have hustle and who have weird shots that rarely go in that make it in the NBA. Now whether or not I believe Bean will be one, that is a different can of worms

Not as good of a program, but a comparable conference. Hopefully he gets all the PT he wants and more. I really think he's going to be successful.

You are sure free on this board to hype a favorite player. Especially one who has no jump shot past two feet, and still only can dunk the ball, and couldn’t guard an elementary school student at a school crosswalk. He makes two or three superb dunk shots, and all the sudden is deemed as one of the all time greats!Real Life Aggie wrote: ↑June 2nd, 2021, 8:19 pmSlander him all you want... Wasn’t this guy rumored to be interested in USU last year?
I know we dont have any openings...
I don’t know if I see a retread happening for him at Utah though. I actually think there’s a good chance he ends up at BYU.

I wasn't sure where to put this, but apparently Seneca Knight (SJSU, then briefly LSU) is going to BYU-Provo.

Why is that always assumed. Maybe 1 guy actually got time after ditching the Aggies and that’s only because he got new shoes.

Oh man this is hilarious! We heckled him for two straight games in the spectrum and he shot terribly. Like 3/26 between the two games or something like that.Real Life Aggie wrote: ↑July 19th, 2021, 11:45 amI wasn't sure where to put this, but apparently Seneca Knight (SJSU, then briefly LSU) is going to BYU-Provo.

Re: The hopefully definitive 2021 transfer portal thread
It was 100% an issue at USU that was not addressed. He's got a low funky release with the football. There wasn't really time to address it though either. I'm guessing at this stage it would be the same for Missouri st.FDTerritory wrote: ↑July 27th, 2021, 11:40 amInteresting video. I like the athleticism, but I'm not crazy about the mechanics. He's got a really strange angle on his arm at release...almost like he's trying to sidearm way too much. Was that an issue that was addressed at USU, or did they just go with what he was doing?Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑July 27th, 2021, 9:07 am
Shelley is athletic though and does have some talent. Here's a highlight of his biggest career game when he led Utah to a big comeback win over BYUhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-H-gm6-6rE.
I think there's a chance he could be a very serviceable QB for Missouri State.

I mean, even if we turn it around and win 20 games, we would have been better had we used the available scholarships more aggressively on win-now players and counseled a few more guys out.
