Yeah we might be thanking them later depending on if we get in. Just wish Colorado and Creighton came ready to play like Houston.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑March 14th, 2021, 2:56 pmWell, Houston did its job. Thanks, Cougars. I’ll be rooting for them.

Re: At-large watch
I remember this, and the reason those teams that didn't get in because they lost a ton of games especially at the end of the season. ACC was keeping them in the top 40.Aggieiester wrote: ↑March 14th, 2021, 2:33 pmFrom 2019SLB wrote: ↑March 14th, 2021, 1:51 pmThis is part of why I keep saying we are in.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑March 14th, 2021, 1:35 pmJust saw Wichita has a NET of 72. 72?!?!
How are they even in the conversation?
Louisville is 56.
"Teams like Belmont (47 NET score), Temple (56), Arizona State (63), and St. John's (73) squeezed into the field of 68, but ACC teams like N.C. State and Clemson (35 NET score) didn't."
The committee doesn't seem to even use the NET rankings to determine at-large bids. If they just went off the NET rankings then USU would be a 10 seed.
Maybe there should be some rules as to how far down that committee can reach down when selecting teams, otherwise why even use the metric?

Both teams lost early in the ACC tourney and were criticized for purposefully watering down their non-conference. At least that’s my recollection.SLB wrote: ↑March 14th, 2021, 3:03 pmI remember this, and the reason those teams that didn't get in because they lost a ton of games especially at the end of the season. Re: At-large watch
NC State lost basically every game in the last month of the season including the last place ACC team GA Tech (they were not good that season). I remember the joke was that NC State looked like a Duryea team shooting a billion 3s and was terrible in every way.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑March 14th, 2021, 3:05 pmBoth teams lost early in the ACC tourney and were criticized for purposefully watering down their non-conference. Wichita State's chances was killed by Houston. Wichita State lost to the Bearcats by 1 then Houston beats the Bearcats by 37.

Re: At-large watch
Lower seeded teams are not expected to advance. I know we want our teams to be the ones that get the upset but general consensus is we should lose and when we do the committee isn’t holding that against us.Aggieiester wrote:Another thing is the MWC needs to wins some games, get to the sweet 16, none if this one and done business.

Re: At-large watch
Craig Thompson has to leave the room when we and other teams in our conference are discussed. As did Barnes with us back in 2011.

Re: At-large watch
Im shocked that every ad other than boise and San Diego state puts up with him. I hope Hartwell is fighting for our schools best interest and Thompson certainly seems to sell out the rest of the conference for those 2 schools.

To be fair Barnes essentially left the room and quit on us long before selections were made.GameFAQSAggie wrote: ↑March 14th, 2021, 4:07 pmCraig Thompson has to leave the room when we and other teams in our conference are discussed. As did Barnes with us back in 2011.

Re: At-large watch
It is only 1 factor, but if we are not in over them I don't know how you justify using the net rankings. nothing against wichita, but there metrics were no better than ours and just lost a quad 3 lost to end the season.Aggiesbleedblue wrote: ↑March 14th, 2021, 4:16 pmWe’re out... a net in the 70’s over a net in the 30’s. Really thought Wichita State took our spot. Surprised we have a bye. I know nothing about Texas Tech this year but glad to be in.

Re: At-large watch
They really followed the NET pretty closely this year. Penn State and Saint Louis are the only 2 teams that didn't get in that should have gotten in based on NET alone.

Re: At-large watch
I like that it’s more predictable right now based on the NET. This is year 2 out of 2 (thanks Covid) and they’ve followed it very closely.
