Yep appreciate Georgetown for knocking off bubble Seton Hall, but now we need them to lose to not be a bid thief.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑March 12th, 2021, 6:11 pmWe need georgetown to los to uconn or creighton tomorrow.scotlandog wrote: ↑March 12th, 2021, 6:05 pmSeton Hall falls

Oregon St knocks off Oregon. We need USC/Colorado to beat Oregon St to stop a bid thief there.

Wichita won today so they are probably locked. Memphis is the next best team. They are next four out right now. SMU lost earlier today, they were also next four out before their loss.Aggie84025 wrote:Who from the aac are kocks? At-large watch
Right now they are the #1 seed in their tourney over #7 Houston whom they beat. So right now they are the AQ but are shown as a 12 seed. Maybe they are not as solid as I thought though they will have a shot against Houston again if they make the final.slcagg wrote:Are you sure on Wichita. Re: At-large watch
How solidly are the Aggies in the tournament right now? I say about 90% at the moment. The MW will get at least 2 bids and even if we lose I think it will be tough to give the nod to CSU considering we have a higher net ranking and were 2-1 against them.

I mean, our NET is 37 now, probably won't drop to 40 even with a loss. We should be in as a 10 seed. Who knows though.

Re: At-large watch
Here’s where things could get weird. If Usu wins convincingly against SDSU, there’s a chance we jump to top 30 net. If that happens, Boise would have 4 Q1 wins.
If they have 4 Q1 wins, I don’t know how the committee keeps them out.

Hopefully the committee will take into account that BSU lost 4 games in a row to close out the season, are trending downward, and are without their best player (Kigab).Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑March 13th, 2021, 7:04 amHere’s where things could get weird. How often is it that a team with a sub 40 net is left out of the tournament? Anyone know?

Re: At-large watch
After that game last night, I hope the committee watched some of USU's games because the defense and rebounding the Aggies put out there are in the top 20, and that is for sure tournament worthy. Queta is a man among boys on defense right now.
The offense is improving game to game, with setbacks from time to time. CSU was averaging 75 points a game, and they only scored 50 points. This is huge.
Looking at everything and who is winning and losing games, I think CSU might still have a chance at an at-large.

Not sure this is the 2nd tournament year with net since last tournament was cancelled. I just dont see how we get left out today if we lose. Last night was a de facto play in game and the aggies proved themselves. I still hope the team is not satisfied and goes for the 3 peat which they will.

Re: At-large watch
The key is to get the top 68 teams in the tournament. No one can tell us with a straight face the aggies are not on of the 68 best teams in the nation. Your point about defense and rebounding are spot on. Those things travel well. Our offense is rough at times but do they do enough to win games. The tournament is also about star power and Queta is exactly that.LoveMyAggies wrote: ↑March 13th, 2021, 8:36 amAfter that game last night, I hope the committee watched some of USU's games because the defense and rebounding the Aggies put out there are in the top 20, and that is for sure tournament worthy. Re: At-large watch
I don't see how we go left out today either unless those three bid stealing games go crazy crazy on us. One bid stealer we might be fine, but if we have two or three we might be in trouble. I still can't see how Drake could be ahead of us. I think that's one where I think the committee will put us above Drake. Of course all we have to do is win and we don't have to worry about it. San Diego State is not the daunting San Diego State from last year which we beat also. Vegas has the line at one point in San Diego State's favor. If we could play that same defense from last night and a little bit better on the offensive side then I think we win.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑March 13th, 2021, 8:39 amNot sure this is the 2nd tournament year with net since last tournament was cancelled. If the aggies do end up losing they cannot afford to lose in a blow out. If they do lose in a close game then I believe it will cement them in the tourney.

Re: At-large watch
Do we root for CIncy over WSU? WSU is like 64 in the net and this would be a bad loss for them as Cincy is sub 100. If Houston then beats Memphis in the semi's and then beat Cincy in the finals that may push the AAC to 1 bid league. At a minimum our resume would be more solid than Memphis or WSU if we were to lose to SDSU.

Re: At-large watch
I don't think that game really matters because most bracketologists already have Wichita State in their brackets as the AQ. Basically if Cincinnati wins then they replace Wichita State. Witchita St is out of at large consideration if they lose. The key for us is for Houston beating Memphis and winning the championship game tomorrow against either Cincinnati or Wichita State. The main key overall is for the Aggies to just win today.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑March 13th, 2021, 1:56 pmDo we root for CIncy over WSU? Re: At-large watch
But if you ignore the 17 point loss to #228 Valpo and the loss to #173 Bradley then they don't have any bad losses. The Bracketologists all like to cherry pick what they like about a team and completely ignore their flaws unless they're trying to hold the team back.

Re: At-large watch
I am dumbfounded that many brackets still have us in a play-in game right ahead of BSU and CSU. Even with a NET of 37 I am nervous that even a close loss to SDS (#21) throws us into the hopper with 8 other teams vying for the last 3 or 4 openings.

Re: At-large watch
I agree, as long as oregon state, georgetown and either Wichita or Houston win the AAC then we should be in no matter what. One thing I found interesting was that Duke is now saying if they are chosen they will play in the tournament. We all know the committee would love nothing more than to screw over a smaller program and let Duke into the tournament. I find it ironic they all of sudden just changed their mind.

Re: At-large watch
The experts say that Wichita State is in but they're 64 in NET (which shouldn't be good enough to get in) and will drop after today's game. They just picked up a Q3 loss. Their resume is honestly not that of an NCAA At Large team but they'll probably get in anyway.

That is a good quad 3 loss so it wont hurt them at least thats what the media bias will say. If cincy wins tomorrow i dont know how wichita would get in.ProvoAggie wrote: ↑March 13th, 2021, 3:17 pmThe experts say that Wichita State is in but they're 64 in NET (which shouldn't be good enough to get in) and will drop after today's game. Re: At-large watch
Yeah looking at their record, it is extremely similar to ours. If they are a lock, so should we and vice versa. They have one less bad loss than we do but our wins are better IMO. They beat Houston and Ole Miss but we beat SDSU 2x and CSU 2x. Our losses to Boise were without our starting PG. I think we are better.slcagg wrote:How come Wichita is in and we are first four? Looks like we got a bid stealer with Georgetown. We were sweating it with Memphis, but it looks like Houston took care of them barely. One bid stealer we might be okay, but two or more we're going to be hosed.
