He is a fan favorite! On Instagram, their message board and Twitter fans love him and want him to play more minutes. I think it is because he is from a small school and works hard.

After hitting the record breaking 3 pointer last night, here’s a few quotes from their board. They are really hyping him up...

“The beginning of a HOF career”
“He owns the NBA”(with a picture of him having the only 100% 3 pt shooting)
“ My only question about him at this point is whether he gets in the Hall on the first ballot or has to wait”
“The greatest 60th pick in NBA history”

I love it! It doesn’t surprise me he’s a fan favorite.

I think Sam is in a dream position for a 60th pick rookie. My biggest concern right now is whether or not Sam can create and reliably hit his own shots inside the three-point arc. Sam relied a lot on drawing the foul down low in college. That opportunity might evaporate in the NBA.

He's proving me wrong so far, and I'm glad to see it!

If your provider has NBATV it will be on there. Unfortunately if you had DirectTV their free preview for Game Pass for this year expired yesterday.

Yeah, it's hard to not watch Sam play, but at the same time, Forbes was playing pretty well last night. I doubt Bud wanted to mess with that. Sam will continue to get garbage minutes until he can show that he is more reliable and a better player than Forbes.

Connaughton was on fire from 3 as well (4-6). I'm guessing that had a lot to do with it.

It also looks like they have moved Sam from the 2 to the 1 position. I believe they are a little deeper in the 1 and it would explain why Sam may see a decrease in minutes as well.

Agreed. I'm big on Sam, but he's not up to speed with these guys yet. He will be, and he could take on a bigger role than they've given him. But let him grow into it and work his way up the rotation. Some of these guys from whom Sam will take minutes have non-shooting skills that exceed Sam's. He'll get there.

He was the 60th pick, is a rookie and the season is only 5 games in. I'd wait a little while before complaining about his lack of playing time. Udoka Azubuike has gotten far less playing time for the Jazz and he was a first round pick.

Torrey Craig broke his nose and will be out for a couple weeks. I know he plays mostly the 2 or 3 but hopefully that will get some more time in rotation for the rooks.

Along with playing every varsity game as a senior and junior, he did also play in all 24 varsity games as a sophomore, but he had one game against Bingham where he had no stats. It also didn't look like he ever got any varsity time a freshman, but he may have dressed for JV or sophomore ball as a freshman and got a DNP there. Maybe someone who went to Bountiful would remember if they ever had him play in the JV or sophomore games as a freshman, or just kept him in freshman ball and let him dominate there.
