Neemias Queta
A friend of mine has attended practices, informal and formal, and he says Neemias looks fantastic this year. I predict that, injury-free, he will decimate the conference this year! I saw one "preseason" team that didn't even have him in it. I thought, "They will rue the day . . . "

Re: Neemias Queta
Nobody in this conference is even close. He wasn’t not fully healthy last year. He was a freshman and will be as a junior. Imagine their is some strength and skill added since his freshman year.
Thanks for sharing forever! Love this kind of stuff.
If you have any other information from practice that you can share would love to hear it!

Re: Neemias Queta
I too have dropped in on several practices/workouts. I 100% agree. Neemi looks incredibly strong, athletic, agile and explosive compared to previous years. His skill set has also significantly increased. In the past he was a game changer especially on defense....his year I expect him to be dominant on both ends of the court. I am really excited about him and this team!

Good to hear and not surprising. Without injuries, we probably have two guys drafted in the 2020 draft. Excited to see what he does.

Re: Neemias Queta
A few thoughts on Queta. Besides being freakishly talented, he's an alpha dog, works harder than anyone, and loves the game (often a rare quality for 7-footers). I imagine we run the offense through him this year which you can easily do not only because of his scoring ability on the block (and some on the perimeter), but he's also a good passer, especially out of double teams.
People on this board have wondered how we replace Sam's scoring and leadership. To me it's obvious.

Re: Neemias Queta
I think having a couple good 3pt bombers and a slasher or two cutting to the rim around him will give him lots of great options when he gets double teamed in the post. I’m confident Neemi can be a good decision maker with the ball in his hands. As long as we have the weapons around him to capitalize on collapsing defenses we could be very hard to stop. I think we have the players to do that.

If he's going to be as dominant and healthy as we all seem to believe, I hope Zapala will be ready to take the reins next year.

He stayed in logan all summer. I am guessing this will be the healthiest and strongest we will see him since being here. If he stays healthy he could have a monster MVP type year in the conference.

Agreed. I’d also include Justin bean as that other leader as well.OrangeCountyAggie wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2020, 12:57 pmA few thoughts on Queta. I'm more excited for Aggie basketball than I've ever been. I'm excited to see what Marco Anthony and Sean Bairstow can do as well in the backcourt.

All this talk of being a dominant team has me excited! I hope it comes to be and we destroy people... Especially a baby blue clad team down south.

Bairstow isn't close to being a game changer , yet anyway. Utility at bestAggieFBObsession wrote: ↑October 30th, 2020, 5:26 amI'm more excited for Aggie basketball than I've ever been. I'm excited to see what Marco Anthony and Sean Bairstow can do as well in the backcourt.

Re: Neemias Queta
I'm with you Sammy. IMO, he's slow and gets checked at the rim most times, and lacks athleticism. I want him to do well, but I don't see it happening. Liam will leapfrog ahead of him in PT.sammyhagar wrote: ↑October 30th, 2020, 2:32 pmBairstow isn't close to being a game changer , yet anyway. He does not lack athleticism. Besides, he plays a different position than Liam.IdaAg93 wrote: ↑October 30th, 2020, 7:22 pmI'm with you Sammy. Re: Neemias Queta
I beg to differ. I think that’s his weakness. He had multiple 5+ turnover games this past year. I love Queta and I think he will have a great year but he will have a monster year if he takes care of the ball.OrangeCountyAggie wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2020, 12:57 pmA few thoughts on Queta. If he has teammates that can get him the ball when he has position on his defender, he will dominate.

Re: Neemias Queta
He made freshman mistakes, esp. with his limited PT. He can't just jump to the rim like he could before, and even in the tourney game when he broke his arm we made that mistake. My only other complaint is he get overwhelmed last year, and the game seemed to outpace him a bit. However, I think once he grows into the roll, calms down/adjusts, he'll see a huge sophomore jump. I think Bairstow has a lot of potential.IdaAg93 wrote: ↑October 30th, 2020, 7:22 pmI'm with you Sammy. IMO, he's slow and gets checked at the rim most times, and lacks athleticism. Bairstow to McChesney isn't a clear comparison, but I do have higher hopes for McChesney. But, I think they're both talented and I look forward to them developing.

I find Craigs comments about him from the New Mexico tourney game telling of his potential.bpd wrote: ↑October 30th, 2020, 9:17 pmHe does not lack athleticism. Plus he was playing as a true freshmen. I don't think you can count him out at all.slcagg wrote: ↑October 31st, 2020, 6:19 amI find Craigs comments about him from the New Mexico tourney game telling of his potential.bpd wrote: ↑October 30th, 2020, 9:17 pmHe does not lack athleticism. Re: Neemias Queta
This is true. I saw him several times this summer near campus and he socially distanced from me every time.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑October 23rd, 2020, 2:19 pmHe stayed in logan all summer.
