MW All-Decade Team

Post by Yossarian » August 20th, 2020, 1:19 pm

First Team:

Xavier Thames, SDSU
Larry Nance Jr., WYO
Sam Merrill, USU
Jimmer Fredette, BYU
Kawhi Leonard, SDSU

Merrill is the only Aggie mentioned on the first three teams.

Your thoughts? Did they get them right?

Who's that 4th guy?

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

My take is different.
MWC were lucky to have those 5 players.

Merrill is definitely the only Aggie that deserves to have his name mentioned.

Merrill definitely deserves it. Queta should be in consideration. A good year should put in this group.

Only because Carson Shanks didn't stick in Logan.

But yeah the Aggies have only been in the MW since 2014. The first 4 years in the league were rough. Queta is great, but not top 5 of the decade great.

Queta is better than some of those dudes. Like you said, a good year of him leading the team would get him on there. Same with bean.

Question i have in looking at those names has the mwc had as good of big guy tandem as what we could see with bean and a healthy queta.

He and Cody were probably considered but there can only be 5 guys..There have been a lot of really good MW players over the last 10 years.

Four of the five were selected in the NBA draft (3 of them in the first round). Hopefully in a couple of months we can say all 5 of them were selected in the NBA draft.

None of them stick around long enough to make any significant impact. I’m guessing that will change now that they finally have the coach they want.

Interesting, do you think UNLV is poised to remain in mediocrity? I’m expecting a jump, but I don’t really follow the ins and outs of their program.

I think UNLV is on an upswing and that is good for everybody..However, lots of schools these days have turnover every season..

meh, too much love for some BSU guys on this list. I honestly don't see how Marks and Hutchison garner 2nd team honors. If Chandler Hutchison is 2nd team then where is Jalen Moore? Both played 4 full years and they were essentially the same player with both putting up almost identical career stats in FG %, total rebounds, and total assists. Moore scored 167 more total points over his career, shot a higher 3pt%, had 40 more blocks, and 70 less turn overs.

The biggest reach on this list? Skylar Spencer. The biggest snub? Jordan Caroline...and it ain't even close.

I hadn't even noticed Caroline was missing. That doesn't seem right.

They did not include Fire prevention equipment destructiveness as part of the stat line apparently.
