Alphonso
Shout out to him, he was huge this weekend. His 2 threes in the 2nd half after the Aztecs went up 7. Very proud of him.

Re: Alphonso
Yes without Fonzo hitting those two 3s we probably would have lossed. We had no momentum and they were beginning to build their lead until he hit them.
He will be HUGE off the bench especially since Bairstow is done.

Re: Alphonso
He deserves more credit. His defense on Mitchell was key. He and Bean guarded him most of the night and frustrated him to 4 points.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑March 8th, 2020, 12:29 pmShout out to him, he was huge this weekend. His 2 threes in the 2nd half after the Aztecs went up 7. Very proud of him.

Re: Alphonso
My worry going into the game was mitchell. He killed us the last 2 games. Great defense on him yesterday.TrueBlueFan wrote: ↑March 8th, 2020, 12:33 pmHe deserves more credit. Re: Alphonso
Fonzo was huge. I know he can’t guard most threes, but I’d like to see him try

He had two big free throws in that stretch as well.

Re: Alphonso
If we go to a zone D we can play him or Bean at the 3
I actually like our zone, think it helps keep guys fresher and out of foul trouble

I agree 100% with everything that has been said. He is the unsung hero for sure, he played so great early on in the season. I was glad to see him on a high note. I really think he should be getting more minutes.

Re: Alphonso
Most teams just don't move the ball well enough to get a good shot against our zone.MetsJetsAggies wrote: ↑March 8th, 2020, 1:37 pmIf we go to a zone D we can play him or Bean at the 3

Re: Alphonso
Yeah our length is a problem for teams in it, and it minimizes our lack of quickness. There's not a ton of tape on us playing zone so I'm not sure how much a team will prepare for itaggies22 wrote: ↑March 8th, 2020, 1:59 pmMost teams just don't move the ball well enough to get a good shot against our zone.MetsJetsAggies wrote: ↑March 8th, 2020, 1:37 pmIf we go to a zone D we can play him or Bean at the 3

Re: Alphonso
Does anyone know if we are still trying to get another year of eligibility for Fonz? There was talk of this earlier in the year. It’d be great if he’s only a sophomore.
If we can get a PG and another shooter and can get Nemi back, maybe a three-peat next year?
I’m hoping one of Ashworth or Worster can end up being special.

Re: Alphonso
He enrolled at Montana in ‘16, don’t know how that would work

I never thought I'd see the day in USU basketball where it was OUR length bothering the other team and not the other way around.MetsJetsAggies wrote: ↑March 8th, 2020, 2:06 pmYeah our length is a problem for teams in it, and it minimizes our lack of quickness. Re: Alphonso
His first year of JuCo ball he was forced by his coach to play in 8 or so games while he was injured. He should have been out for the year.TheAKAggie wrote: ↑March 8th, 2020, 3:42 pmHe enrolled at Montana in ‘16, don’t know how that would work

Re: Alphonso
I believe they have to wait until the summer to petition the NCAA for a 6th year.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑March 8th, 2020, 2:32 pmDoes anyone know if we are still trying to get another year of eligibility for Fonz? There was talk of this earlier in the year. It’d be great if he’s only a sophomore.

Re: Alphonso
We are down to 4 players that we play at the 3 guard/wing spots with the bairstow injury. 1 of those is abel. We really need to have Anderson play some 3 or bean.

Re: Alphonso
When he receives enough playing time, Fonzo has played his best games on our biggest stages.

Re: Alphonso
1000%! Without him, we would have 0 Quad 1 wins this year! It's maddening that he wasn't getting much playing time in the middle of the season when we were struggling (don't get me started about Brock).
