48-29 Run

Post by FloridaAggie13 » March 7th, 2020, 6:11 pm

Over the last 22:21 we outscored the #5 team in the nation 48-29.

Pretty impressive and of course it was Merrill who lifted them out of the doldrums late in the first half with seven quick points. Brito's three at the end of the half was huge!!

Yep as amazing as his game winner was, his 7-0 run when we were getting rolled might have been bigger. It might not have even been a close game if he doesn't go into superstar mode there.

Also give credit to Coach Smith for ending Brock Miller's green light. Miller took zero shots tonight. We could not have survived a 1-7 type game from Miller.

No need to talk bad about Miller. He had a nice game last night.

Miller was actually really big this game. On both defense and shot selection. He passed up a lot of opportunities and it really seemed to confuse SDSU. I kept saying we just need one other player to step up and honestly the whole team did down the stretch.

We were dialed in defensively tonight. Excellent game planning, effort, and execution.

After the Aggies closed to 29-28, they had 5 turnovers in 5 minutes (over six possessions). The score was 37-30 and SDSU looked like they had weathered the storm.

Enter Alphonso. 2 threes later it was 37-36 and back to game on.

What’s crazy is we didn’t have a bucket for like 13 minutes in the first half against a team viewed as a #1 seed and pulled off the W.
