There isn't a problem with the posts. We do a guess for every game and the standings haven't been updated in a while. It's not going to be a long term problem. It's pretty much caught up now.

Just seems it would be cleaner to just put all the updates in one thread instead of updating every "Predict the Score" thread for the entire year.

Where were you a couple of years ago?
I voiced a similar opinion a few years ago and found myself eating lunch by myself for a few weeks. Not even the other social outcasts wanted to sit by me. I was sad.

If we have a whole forum, The Quad, devoted to these things, why is it necessary to also have contest threads in all the other forums AND have them pinned to the top?

I hear you and I apologize. I fell behind and caused the mess. Next football season i will post the predict the score threads in the Quad. For the rest of this basketball season they will still be posted here to be consistent. I will have a single results thread as well so the score predictions can fall off after each game.

Sorry once again for cluttering up the forum.

@sam tingey , thank you for all you do!

It's a double edged sword, if you post them in the Quad your participation will decrease probably to the tune of about 1/8th of what it is on the actual basketball forum. If you post them on here you get people complaining about having to see the posts when they don't participate.

One thing I used to do was post all of the threads before the season started in the Quad and then moved them over one at a time to the basketball or football forum for the week of the game. Then moved them back. But that requires moderator permissions and extra work... it did result in a less cluttered forum and made it possible for participants to vote for every game in advance if they wanted to. Just a thought.

yea, i am sure that participation will drop, but the whole reason the quad forum exists is for games, right? I will just have to market it better I guess. You also used to give a prize. i may have to look into something like that.

I'll be happy to continue the prizes if you'll continue running the games. Prize for this year's basketball winner will be an autographed Marvin Roberts basketball card. Maybe we can keep commenting on this thread just to bug all the angry old men on this forum.

I don’t think commenting on this thread is all that annoying. It would be much more annoying to comment on the predict the score threads...

The next game will remain in the basketball forum to encourage participation but all previous games will be moved over to the quad.

We deal with things that are inconvenient all the time, but if you never complain nothing usually gets better. I can live with it especially now that some of the geniuses have made me aware that we can actually skip to the next topic without reading those in front of it or that there is some function called "scroll" that will help to navigate around these topics. Damn the things you can learn on a message board.

You’d quadruple participation with all the folks who secretly love to click on any BYU related thread on the USU forums!

Nah... mostly we'd score terribly because we'd predict BYU to lose every game.
