The horse is at the glue factory. 70 percent of his shots are from three and he ain’t shy about putting them up.

At this point Craig Smith is just trolling us. He’s leaving him in there just to torment all of us.

I hope this kid has very high self esteem because if he doesn’t this could have a potential tragic ending. Before you post, imagine if this was your son.

Again
It would have been 0-6 and 0-5 but they called a foul on Wyoming underneath the basket just as Miller was bricking his last shot of the game. His one miss from inside the arc was a thing of beauty, too. We had a two-on-one break and Miller was handling the ball. Instead of taking it to the basket wide to create space for a pass to our other player he goes right to the hoop and gets his shot blocked.

He is the great equalizer in games we should run away with.

Miller is a disaster.
I tried to be patient for 15 games.
No mas.
I’ll take anyone on the court over him.
Smith needs to wake up on this one.

There is nothing personal here. Yeah, it sucks that he can’t shoot, it’s even more unfortunate he has no clue what he is doing on the basketball court.

I have coached my own son and while very tough to do at times you have to be real honest. I’ve had my son break down in tears in the car because I left him on the bench for all but a couple of minutes in the second half because of mistakes he made - and that I made coaching. We agreed not to talk about things until the next day and then we had a great conversation. That’s what Miller needs right now. He obviously can’t internalize what he’s doing in games, so if he was my son he wouldn’t need to read it hear. He’d hear it from me first.

Look, Coach Smith was dead wrong about not playing Bean last year. Maybe Mrs. Smith needs to let him know he’s the man in charge again this year.

Leaving him out there to keep missing is not doing him any favors. Might be in his and the teams best interest to take a step back for a little while and see if he can at least regain enough form to be a 35% shooter.

He is a big boy playing big boy college basketball, and should be able to strap on his big boy britches. If he plays as poorly as he has this year, he should expect criticism from fans on a fan board.

I was going to post before the game that I expected Miller to go 2-9 from behind the arc this game.

Honestly, I'm glad to hear he only attempted four 3pt shots. I'll take 0-4 over 1-7 any day. Then that really only leaves him 0-1 on a type of shot we know he can make consistently, which is trending in the right direction.

In that scenario, I'd say (in the politest way possible) "sir, can you please tell your son to stop shooting the ball and maybe pass to an open teammate?"

The fact is, we need a consistent Miller who can shoot around 37%. There are a lot of open shots out there with Queta and Sam demanding so much attention.

Smith played Ainge last year far too long when it was clear he needed to come off the bench/play less. Miller is struggling shooting the rock and just in general offensively. A change of pace (not starting) could be just what he needs to shoot better.

Miller will drop 20+ in Vegas to get us to the final and then hit the dagger Saturday night to close out the ship.

I've heard of "bold" predictions before, but... This one is a bit unlikely.

Unless you mean 20+ points over the course of all the games we play in Vegas. If so, I would probably agree.

Miller's situation feels way different. With Ainge, Smith wanted someone to step up and earn the starting spot. It sucked that he started for as long as he did but he rarely played more than 5 minutes and never got back into the game. We were frequently digging ourselves out of a hole but he wasn't in long enough to completely sink us. Miller is playing substantial minutes.

Miller is "due" to hit about 90% of his shots the remainder of the season, so we should be set.

I know we live in an age where criticism = slander, and we all walk on egg shells so as to not harm ones psyche, but come on, this is D-1 BB. One would have to expect some fallout from a slump lasting this long.

I honestly wonder if Miller has an injury we just don't know about. Just watching his shot, it seems like he doesn't get great rotation/backspin on the ball so if it touches the rim slightly, it clanks. He has a lot of shots go in and out, and he just doesn't have that soft touch.

Is it considered slander if it's factual? He very well could be the worst starter in the MW right now. I hope he turns that around like others have said, but he's an adult and this is exactly what happens when you're under performing.

Recent performance has been down even from normal. But there are a number of games, including against good opponents, where he scored double digits. I think it's likely that he'll have at least one double digit game in the tournament, assuming we play all 3 games. He really only needs to average 7 ppg to exceed 20 pts.

Miller seems to contribute nothing to our wins and does marginally well in our losses — although not sufficient to convert them to wins.

Miller 1st half: 0-5 fg, 0-4 3pt

Post by Rawbirds » February 20th, 2020, 10:45 am

I think it’s easy to forget, Miller was a big factor in the game at SDSU being as close as it was but has since struggled.

Watching the game last night, there is something to say about the gravity he commands from defenses.

FWIW Brock would’ve had 1 3pt field goal had Sam not “committed” a “charge”.
