#1 or #2 seed in the NIT tournament is still major accomplishment.

Post by SDSU » February 16th, 2020, 2:15 pm

They get more home games and have a chance to play at Madison Square garden for an NIT title. They can prove they are the 69th best team in the country.

In my opinion, NIT title>>>>0-1 at the ncaas

Obviously I want the mwc to be a 2 bid league. According to ESPN, they can still get an at large if they win out and lose to sdsu(any other team is considered a bad loss) in the mwc tournament OR any sdsu win whether it's in the quarterfinals or semifinals

Will SDSU still get a 1 seed if they lose in the MWC Tourney? Just wondering.

I'm sure the team that wins the NIT is better than 20 or so NCAA teams. Especially many of the non power conference autobids. If we can't get to NCAA bid I think a run in the NIT could be pretty exciting.

You would think that a MW fan would want as many conference mates in the tournament as possible?

Unfortunately they will still get the #1 seed. No chance the committee will demote a 31-1 team to the 2 line considering how big of a gap the 2 seeds and the 1 seeds are this season.

2 scenarios
1 loss=keep #1 seed but go to east
1 loss=go to LA as the 1st place 2 seed.

A 32-0 sdsu team will be the 1st overral 1 seed going to LA

I hope sdsu loses to san Jose st or wyoming. That will for sure lock up the LA wet region as a 2 seed

I want usu to beat sdsu in the mwc tournament. That way USU will for sure get an at large bid and that will increase our chances to be a 2 seed in the west region.

I disagree. If the NIT champion was good enough to be in the dance, then they should've gotten an at large to begin with. The conference champion autobids IS good enough to get in. This ensures a fair representation.

The NIT champion simply means they are the 69th best team in the country. Bcuz they played in a tournament that has teams who were also not good enough to get in the NCAAs

If the MWC is such a jack-weed of a conference why is he bragging about being the champion? "We're the best of all the shi!!y teams!"

Unquestionably true on both points.

WRONG WRONG WRONG. If USU beats SDSU in the MWC tournament, USU will not get an at-large bid. USU will get the automatic bid from the conference. USU will be #2 seed so the only chance to meet in the MWCT is in the final.

Lets not be too hasty. As was discussed in another thread, if we lose of Saturday there is a possibility that we could drop down to the 4th seed. Still gotta win before we get the 2 slot.
