Re: Recruiting
There is such a difference in the annual migration away from the U and the three transfers leaving Logan this year. Somehow transferring after being recognized on Senior Night feels just fine. As does a player leaving who had never played.
Gach started 25 games and averaged 30 minutes. I would not be surprised if there is more hemorrhaging to come in SLC. That program has major issues.

There is an interesting rumor floating around that Gach is interested in coming here. I have no idea if this has legs or not?

ususports wrote: ↑May 7th, 2020, 12:04 pmTo be clear, I am not annoyed by the this thread. You have commented before that this thread is spot on to its title, and I completely agree. There is nothing in the title that suggests it is 100% Aggie related, so no worries. That being said, when you evaluate how many players that have been reported in this thread to have entered the transfer portal, followed by Aggies22 confirming that we have NOT contacted them, but there are other comments of people having wet dreams hoping we get them, it clouds the vision of who we really have been truly swinging for, and who we have not. My point is that we probably haven’t struck out as many times as people perceive we have because this thread has so many non-Aggie related transfer reports. Most of my posts (in any thread) will have a sarcastic twist because it is no fun to just post without making some joke to go along with it. My sarcasm may not be perceived as funny to many, but I always have fun typing it, so I don’t really care if others partake of the joy that is intended with my comments. They can go on living miserable lives never laughing at anything. Also, I am absolutely a team player, so if I can contribute to help this thread hit 1k posts, I am happy to help. Carry on!Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑May 7th, 2020, 10:08 amPeople keep acting annoyed at this thread but I think it's been a great spot to keep all of this aggregate information in one thread. It's been nice to easily keep apprised of players transferring and ones that could be potential fits or relevant to USU as well as ones we've contacted.ususports wrote: ↑May 6th, 2020, 10:39 pmTo be fair, we haven’t been swinging for 99% of the players posted in this thread, so we really haven’t been missing on as many recruits as everyone thinks. While this thread has been focused on recruiting, it has almost nothing to do with USU’s recruiting. If you want to read some really interesting stuff, go to the scheduling thread to find out when we won’t be playing certain teams. It is exciting!!
I understand hyperbole too but the 99% number is pretty extreme. Here's the players there's strong evidence USU was very interested in but we didn't land (I know I'm missing others too):
Jeremiah Francis, UNC
Jalen Tate, Northern Kentucky
Ray Salnave, Monmouth
Javon Freeman-Liberty, Valparaiso
Darius Perry, Louisville
Devin Gage, Depaul
Terrell Brown, Seattle
Umoja Gibson, North Texas
Drew Buggs, Hawaii
Keishawn Brewton, Coastal Carolina
Rich Kelly, Quinnipiac
Kobe Webster, Western Illinois
James Scott, Temple

Re: Recruiting
It’s traditionally been difficult to recruit against Stanford. Just an observation.
But maybe any school in California is at a disadvantage when going up against schools in states that are likely to have an ordinary sports season next year.

Nate Wickizer's kid. He played his high school ball at Kearns and he just came home from his mission. They've been talking about it for a couple of weeks and just finalized bringing him in as a walk-on.

Re: Recruiting
During my gastroenterology fellowship I used to moonlight on weekends in the emergency department in Austin, Minnesota. It is the most blue collar place I've ever been, and I do not say that in a complimentary fashion. It was (may still be, for all I know) the home of Spam. On the weekends, the ED would fill up with bar trauma. Lots of broken hands, broken noses, lacerations from broken beer bottles. The kids are lucky to be leaving. It's like a smaller version of Gary, Indiana, without the charm.

Back to recruiting i hope Coach Smith can bring in a impact scorer at guard. With that added piece the potential is there for another good run.

Re: Recruiting
Nate lives on the bench on the very south end of North Salt Lake in Davis County. It’s in the Woods Cross High School boundaries, which is where Nate went to high school. That is also where my kids have gone to high school. I haven’t heard why Matt went to Kearns High School, and he lived in North Salt Lake.
Nate is the president of Cache Valley Electric and he has stayed very involved in USU athletics. They have a nice family, and we have enjoyed getting to know them.
This part of town has several former college basketball players. Mitch Smith, who played for the University of Utah, lives just a few houses away from me. His son, Taylor, returned from a mission last summer and plays for a junior college in Washington. I don’t think he has been or will be a D-1 prospect, at least on the MWC level. Mitch is the East High basketball coach and is an all-around great guy.
Gary Trost, who played at BYU in the early 90s, lives nearby and has a son, Trevor, who played at Western Wyoming JC.
Dick Hunsaker lived not too far away and his son, Holton played for Woods Cross a few years ago. He married the sister of Trevin Knell, who also lived nearby and will be a sophomore at BYU. Trevin originally signed with Cal-Berkeley but transferred to BYU after a California coaching change and Trevin’s mission. He’s by far the best player of the bunch.
