Re: Recruiting
Saw him place in person and while impressed with his abilities, he was way too worried about the fans than focusing on the game. He was not short on confidence.SLB wrote: ↑April 3rd, 2020, 4:25 pm
BEFORE NEBRASKA
Cam Mack spent the 2018-19 season at Salt Lake Community College for Coach Todd Phillips, helping the Bruins to a 20-9 record and a berth in the Region 18 semifinals. A first-team All-Region 18 honoree, Mack averaged a team-high 19.1 points per game. He topped the Bruins in assists (7.6 apg), steals (2.4 spg) and blocked shots (0.6 bpg) while grabbing 5.9 rebounds per game from his point guard spot. He ranked fifth nationally in assists per game while finishing 24th nationally in steals. Mack shot 46 percent from the field and boasted a 2.8-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio.
A member of the high school class of 2017, 247Sports counted Mack as a three-star recruit, the No. 48 point guard prospect in the nation and the 18th ranked recruit overall in the state of Texas. He spent part of the 2017-18 season at Stephen F. Austin before attending Salt Lake CC.

Re: Recruiting
I’ve watched him play in person. Can ball. Worried he might not be the type of guard this staff wants.

Re: Recruiting
There is just too much competition for these grad transfers. Everybody in the country still has at least one schollie left.

Re: Recruiting
You will get someone pretty good. Some of these potential grad transfers have to take some summer school first to actually graduate. More dudes will hit the portal all summer.

Re: Recruiting
Here is an interesting name. 22 have you heard anything. Mr basketball in Washington this past year.
Start the video at about 12 mins and he talks about recruiting.
https://scorebooklive.com/washington/20 ... ktok-fame/
And a mid year article about him. I am intrigued. (Mentions Jabe Mullins, he is a 4 star guard that signed with st Mary’s)

Re: Recruiting
I don't believe that we are showing interest in Tanner any longer. I would expect him to end up at one of the schools in that county south of Salt Lake.slcagg wrote: ↑April 5th, 2020, 6:50 amHere is an interesting name. 22 have you heard anything. Mr basketball in Washington this past year.

We did recruit Jabe Mullins quite heavily.

Re: Recruiting
Was at SLCC. But I think redshirted. I think he ended up there because he never qualified.

Re: Recruiting
I wonder why. He has good length and can shoot it. Seems to be exactly what this staff likes to recruit. The fact that he said he wants to visit at least makes me think he has interest on his end.aggies22 wrote: ↑April 5th, 2020, 8:46 amI don't believe that we are showing interest in Tanner any longer. Re: Recruiting
I watched a few No Texas games and my take on Gibson is that he was pretty ball-centric and not much of a distributor, but that may be due to his supporting cast. Dude is very athletic with a good slash line of 41/39/85%. Only 59 assists in 31 games. If he would buy into Smith's system, he would be a good get.

Re: Recruiting
I also think he is a redshirt sophomore but I don’t think he is a grad transfer. So I think he will lose his junior year and then just have 1 year. I’m not a huge fan of that from a roster management standpoint.Bank Shot wrote: ↑April 5th, 2020, 2:05 pmI watched a few No Texas games and my take on Gibson is that he was pretty ball-centric and not much of a distributor, but that may be due to his supporting cast. Re: Recruiting
Why do so many of these names we haven’t actually contacted say we have? To make themselves look more appealing?

Re: Recruiting
In short, yes. Who really knows why it goes down like that? As recently as last fall there was a kid that announced we were in his Top 5 and we had NEVER really shown the kid any real interest. Last summer we had a kid commit to the football team and the coaching staff had NEVER heard of him.

I have seen worse stuff. There was a fake football recruit years ago that was made and fooled all the sites.aggies22 wrote: ↑April 5th, 2020, 10:25 pmIn short, yes. Re: Recruiting
It's really tough competition for any of these grad transfers so far. They're basically all going P5. I still think our best bet is finding a grad transfer from a P5 who has had limited playing time that wants to come get minutes. Here's who Malik Zachary a narrowed his final 3 down to:
Justice Hill is also announcing his commitment today. I'm really curious for that one.

Re: Recruiting
I like that idea Roy especially a younger player. Maximize the years he will be here since you waste one by them sitting out. One name from the west coast that caught my eye is Julian rishwain.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑April 6th, 2020, 8:42 amIt's really tough competition for any of these grad transfers so far.
