UNLV

Post by Aggie84025 » December 28th, 2019, 8:34 pm

I have not watched any games of UNLV. What are the keys to victory against them? It is never to easy to beat them in Vegas. They usually are really athletic, but not sure what type of system they run with their new coach. The aggies cannot afford to lose these type of games they need to take care of business against them. The team will be there on New Year's Eve hopefully they take it as a business trip and do not go out and party. Win this game and it sets up a monumental game next Saturday.

Most of our guys don't really strike me as the party animal type.

Is it too late to buy tickets through usu for the unlv game? Or would it just be easier to walk up and buy some

I have seen them on tv. They are very deliberate on offense. The don't run much at all.

Mountain West hoops AdjTempo rankings, per KenPom (fastest to slowest):
44 San Jose State
59 New Mexico
74 Nevada
138 Boise State
175 Colorado State
177 Utah State
240 Air Force
324 Fresno State
328 UNLV
330 San Diego State
337 Wyoming

I suspect you will win easily. While they have some bigs to bang a bit, the team doesn't shoot particularly well. One fairly interesting match up for fans with no rooting interest either way is Bean going up against Tillman.

I don't think USU typically get's an allotment for road basketball games. There isn't as much interest as there is for football. Looks like UNLV has pretty steep ticket prices for a mediocre team. I'm tempted to drive down for this one.

UNLV is probably a decent team, especially at home. They've really hurt themselves and the MWC by losing some close overtime games that would've been nice wins for the conference. By Ken Pom ranking, they've lost to:

#89 Kansas State by 4 in OT
#191 California by 4 in OT
#56 Cincinnati by 7 in OT

This is true. Aggies need to be focused and play well to win this game. Win this game and it sets up an epic game on Saturday.

I feel the same way. I think they will be ready to play and also play well, but it is a concern for me. In order to be eligible for an at large bid we cannot have any bad losses. This one would be considered a bad loss by the the net rankings.

My buddy on the coaching staff said the boys are dialed in and ready to play. They had a nice new years dinner, caught a movie as a team, went to the titty bar until, and are focused and ready!

Aggies better play a whole lot better or they are not going to leave Vegas with a victory. There length and athleticism are killing us. What is the most frustrating is that UNLV is playing harder than the Aggies which that is not acceptable. Let's go Aggies and come out and win the game.

It's too bad UNLV couldnt play this hard against *checks notes* Pacific, Texas State, SMU, Cal, BYU (lol), etc.

Love playing these teams that are trash all OOC. They're talented, it wouldnt even be a bad loss on the road if they didn't lose so many games to mediocre teams already so instead it would be a devastating loss by NET, etc.

Yep, UNLV isn't that bad. And they came to play very fired up tonight while we were very flat. Bummer to get smoked and lose this game but it wasn't hard to see it coming.
