Re: NET Rating Tracker
Quite insulting to compare this Aggie b ball team to this years football team in any capacity. They have been in every game and are 12 and 2 with the majority of the season without a star center. It is also essentially the same team that was picked 9th and won a championship last year. Cmon man.usu99 wrote:The sucky part is just like football we can't beat the teams ahead of us.

And we should have beat Wake. That may have been our best game all year. I was feeling optimistic after analyzing that game.

With Ohio State’s loss to West Virginia there’s a real shot SDSU is #1 in the NET next Saturday. Well, before the game at least..

Re: NET Rating Tracker
How does the NET Rating tracker work? I looked up LSU and it said they were 1-2 in quad 1 but according to the current NET they should be 1-1. Does the record stand at the time of the loss, or does it change as the season goes on?

Re: NET Rating Tracker
It updates as the year goes on. A quad 1 victory in december could change or vice versa.

Re: NET Rating Tracker
The NET updates once daily and shows the record that they had at the time. Coming into today, LSU was 0-2 with losses to USU and VCU. They got a Q1 win today against Liberty. The NCAA site and the Bracketologists have the 0-2 record but when you go into the details we already have today's win counted.stewusu98 wrote:How does the NET Rating tracker work? Re: NET Rating Tracker
LSU jumps again with their win over Liberty. I’ve not been super impressed with LSU and think the Florida win will end up being the better win by season’s end, but I’ll take it.
We are up three spots to 45.

Re: NET Rating Tracker
We're seeing a big flaw in the Net rankings with Liberty. No way were they anywhere close to the #17 team. They haven't played anyone good and then LSU smoked them. If we played Liberty on a neutral court I bet we'd be about 8 point favorites, yet the Net ranking had them up at #17 and still has them right next to USU now.

Re: NET Rating Tracker
It's definitely not perfect but it will balance out over time. Early on last season there were a few teams up high that really didn't make sense but once they got into conference play it eventually leveled out. Liberty has 0 Quad 1 and Quad 2 games left...they'll continue to fall now even if they keep winning.Roy McAvoy wrote: ↑December 30th, 2019, 9:12 amWe're seeing a big flaw in the Net rankings with Liberty. NET Rating Tracker
Conference play is also where the power schools bias comes into effect. All the teams on average in power conferences are top 100 or close to. They will all move up together in conference play due to every game being Q1 or Q2. This is why our wins against Florida and LSU will be preferable over BYU and St Mary’s. By years end they will be better wins whether or not they are the better teams. The WCC is pretty strong this year but the net effect of being in the SEC vs the WCC will be readily apparent.
EDIT: I went back and looked, both Florida and LSU have 15 Q1/Q2 games in conference. Compare that to our 5 Q1/Q2 games in conference for us (6 if we had played NM 2x). Even going .500 in conference will give them ~7 Q1/Q2 wins. That will solidify them as a Q1 opponent, Q2 at the worst.

Re: NET Rating Tracker
Looks like we moved up 3 spots to #45 in NET. LSU has jumped up 22 spots with that win vs Liberty to #41, making our win against them a Q1 win!

In the AP poll that just came out, San Diego State is #13, which will be their ranking when we play them. This is garbage because from their schedule and record they should be top 5. But, they are number one in the NET, so a win vs them would boost our NET tremendously. Utah State is receiving 30 votes which puts us at #31 in the rankings. St Marys is receiving 28 votes, BYU is receiving 2 votes, and Florida is receiving 1 vote.

Wow, we shot up again to #42. I guess Weber State & Montana state both winning last night really helped us.

ProvoAggie put together an awesome Conferences page that ranks conferences based on average NET and displays projected number of bids per conference. Check it out:

Re: NET Rating Tracker
These are awesome, guys.
One item that I think would help improve the site... Can you put some extra space at the bottom? On PC, when I go to visit team schedules, or at this new link you posted, the absolute bottom still has info I'd like to see. It's right at the bottom of my screen, and when my mouse is on other links, the URL in the bottom left corner covers up some data. I'd like enough space at the bottom so that I can see almost any information in the middle of my screen.
Not meaning to nitpick, just thought some feedback would be welcome.

Amazing work, guys! One question from an old man: I can't find a link on the site to the conference tournament resume card shown in treesap's 12/31 10:30 am post. What am I missing?

Re: NET Rating Tracker
All of that information is shown on the Conference pages along with more information:
https://bracketologists.com/conference/MW
The card images are mostly there for sharing on social media. When you post a link to those pages on Twitter or Facebook then it automatically loads the card as the thumbnail image but you really don't need to see the card on the site since all of that data is readily available. Same with the team cards and we also have a top 10 card for if you share the rankings page.
