USF head coach talks Utah State
USF head coach talks Utah State
Hi folks,
My name is Russ. I'm a reporter on the Rivals.com Network and I cover the USF Bulls.
Sunday night during USF head coach Brian Gregory's post game press conference I asked him to share some thoughts about Utah State. Below is a link to the press conference. Since you probably don't care what he had to say about how they played against Drexel I cued up the video to me asking Coach Gregory about USU.

You know, if Russ never posts again, this gives him an incredible Like to Post ratio.

Yuengling? Never heard of them, seriously. I remember a few years back when people were telling me about how good Genesee was and I was like "who?"Imakeitrain wrote: ↑December 15th, 2019, 10:36 pm+1 for having an arena sponsored by my 2nd favorite beer.

I would think it would have to be byu with the number of RMs they have on their team. They have nearly twice as many as we do.

Yeah, but those are only 6 month missions. Gotta take that into account.

I have no idea if that is even close to the truth but I think it is just a way to make a general dig at a school from Utah based on BYU.
I can't imagine a team with what? 3 Seniors on the entire roster and 4 or 5 RMs is the oldest in America.

It's a very good lager. It's a PA based beer (Yinzlling?)- so I'm not sure it's available on the west coast.ViAggie wrote: ↑December 16th, 2019, 11:12 amYuengling? Never heard of them, seriously. For what it's worth I really miss Olympia beer which isn't available out here.

Re: USF head coach talks Utah State
It was just a general dig.
So, we have 6 RMs on our team. Per their Bios, it looks like all of them served for 2 years. Assuming that all other factors are equal (like age distribution throughout the year) that gives our team an additional 12 years in age.
We currently have 3 freshman, 3 sophomores, 6 juniors, and 3 seniors. Distributing those 12 years amongst the youngest players gives us the equivalent of 6 seniors (3 freshman, 3 years a piece to equal seniors, takes 9 of the 12 years) and 9 juniors (3 sophomores, 1 year each to equal juniors, takes the remaining 3 years). With 6 seniors and 9 juniors, we have an old team.
This doesn't factor in redshirt years (therefore, it assumes our team redshirts an average amount). It doesn't factor in that Marco Anthony has the extra year of wait time for eligibility. And it doesn't factor in the international players. I don't personally know if any of their ages are different from "standard" because of graduation ages, transferring, etc.
If we don't assume redshirt and Marco's eligibility are average, that's 1 year from Marco and (I believe) 5 years of redshirts with Stall, Porter, Miller, Dorius, and Bean all having redshirted. That additional 6 years gives us the equivalent of 12 seniors and 3 juniors. (Didn't Bean and Porter start a year later than directly out of high school? I seem to recall their situations were a little off of normal.)
Whether or not this makes us the oldest team in the NCAA is certainly a question, but, we aren't likely too far from.

I have heard plenty of attorneys remiss that they were having a trial in Pottsville at the courthouse and forced to view through the windows the Yuengling factory across the way while stuck in court instead of at the tasting room. For what it is worth, Yuengling claims to be the oldest operating brewing company in the US.Imakeitrain wrote: ↑December 16th, 2019, 2:46 pmIt's a very good lager.
