I can't be the only one that thinks it is funny that we could be playing St. Mary's twice.

So far that we know about the schedule
Nov. 25-27 Bad Boy Mowers
Nov. 25 - Wichita State
Nov. 26 - round 2
Nov. 27- final round
Dec. 12 -St. Mary's - home game
Dec. 15 -Dixie State- home game
Dec. 21- Mississippi State- in Florida
Dec. 29- In-Conference schedule begins
There has been talk about having 2 more in-conference games. If it happen, the games would be Fresno State on the road and San Jose State at home.
BYU and Weber State were originally projected Dec. 5th and Dec. 18th. I have yet to see anything official on those games in recent days.

And honestly it wouldn't be a bad thing. They are a quality opponent and playing them twice is better than playing some crap team.

As limited as ours and everyone else's OOC schedule is, it's imperative to light it up in those short stint of games.

You are correct. This is a big win for usu and the conference to get this tournament. Now they to make something of it.

Update on the conference schedule:
https://themw.com/news/2020/11/9/mens-b ... rmats.aspx
In the new format, MW teams will face each other in a two-game series in the same week with a one-day break between contests. Each institution will have five home and five road series, reducing the regular travel schedule by four weeks to help mitigate potential virus exposures.

My prediction: visiting teams play us tougher in game two after they've acclimated to the elevation.

This is interesting, because I would probably think the same thing. However, I was reading an article a few days ago about exactly this, and it was talking about how it generally takes around 24 hours before the full effect of an elevation change kicks in and your body doesn't really get used to it for over a week.

The article was basically theorizing that it's best to travel to elevation games as close to game time as possible, but that the second game in these series is unavoidably difficult because of elevation.

stang is correct on this. It takes more than a couple days to acclimate to elevation. The second game will be much easier for USU.

Excited about the Bad Boy Mowers tourney. We'll end up playing 3 of the other 7 teams and there shouldn't be a dud in the group. Any record (from 0-3 to 3-0) is possible for the Aggies. Here is the breakdown of where they are ranked in various preseason polls and an updated tourney bracket.

Utah State: 3rd - 5th MWC

Round 1
Wichita State: 5th - 6th AAC

Round 2
Creighton: 2nd - 4th Big East
OR South Dakota State: 1st Summit

Round 3
West Virginia: 5th Big12
OR Texas A&M: 8th-11th SEC
OR Saint Mary's: 3rd WCC
OR Memphis: 1st-3rd AAC

My bet is we play Wichita, creighton and then Memphis/West Virginia. If that is the case that is a heck of a group.

That first game is most important for tourney standings (if that really matters, lol). It's also the game I would be most interested for, anyway. They're a good school where I think we have a fighting chance, assuming both teams come together as hoped/planned.

Playing Creighton would be cool, but I don't think the odds are in our favor.

Without a doubt, under the circumstances, this tourney is the very best we could hope for as far as building an OOC schedule. I'm holding my breath that it will actually happen though with the Dakotas presently being ground zero as far as Wuhan rates.

Gotta beat Wichita and then hopefully draw Creighton. Lose to Wichita we likely play South Dakota in the second round and maybe Texas A&M in round 3?

Jon Wilner just did an interview on 1280 the zone where he said it is a real possibility that all non-conference basketball games will be canceled. Scotty G and Hans were very surprised.

I will be very surprised if the South Dakota tourney happens. If you're trying to avoid Covid exposure, it's absolutely the worst place in the USA to be, and neighboring Iowa (very close to Sioux Falls) is just as bad. SD has nearly 800 positive test in just the last five days per 100000 people. That's 7000+ in 5 days state wide.

Just to put it in perspective, their incident rate is double of Utah and Utah ain't doing too good.

I love college basketball more than anybody, but lets be realistic. The cases are out of control and hospitals are having a hard time keeping up. This will only get worse through mid-January probably. Basketball will have a hard time getting off the runway. Football will have a hard time landing on the runway.

It pains me to say this, but sports are not that important right now.

What are the chances for the conference tournament in March in LV? I have really enjoyed going to this event and with Smith at the Aggie helm it has been even better.

That really depends on how well vaccine distribution goes. I'm hopeful that it will happen.

Starting to sound like a good chance season won’t happen on time. 2020 is the worst. THE WORST.

I disagree with Pitino. COVID-19 should be taken seriously, but we should be proactive rather than reactive if saving the season is the goal. I think it was stupid to delay the start of the season. It should have started on time (or even early) to account for the near-certain likelihood of cancellations and to allow time for rescheduling games.

Fans should not be allowed at any NCAA games this year with perhaps the exception of player families. Period. It’s just asking for spread and cancellation to allow fans.
