The Beehive Classic hasn't been renewed for next year and it isn't likely to be renewed. They thought it would be successful but attendance has gone down each year.

Don't you mean The Beehive not so Classic? Ever since they put this thing together I've found it ridiculous. If utah and byu don't want to play us at our place, screw them. I don't want our ADs pandering to those tools.

So ... the pukies tanked next year's classic rather than play us.

Typical.

BYU was not the problem and did uphold their side, but Utah deserves all the criticism.

Maybe I’m naive and overly optimistic. 1-4 we could potentially get as a one & done... and 5-7 we may not even get a home-home but I do think we can set up a great future schedule if we stagger return games correctly with at least one non-BYU team in the spectrum (or SLC for the right team) every year.

If memory serves me Stew only wanted H-H type games and I believe that more flexibility could have benefitted us.

Also, unlike the past our value is up. The risk-return calculation that a bigger school might do could be more favorable to us, because losing to us wouldn’t necessarily be a “bad loss”.

I was there last year and I was shocked at the lack of passion for the Utah vs byu game. I was at the Utah vs byu basketball game in 2013 as a neutral observer. Utah was ok that year, but was coming off many down seasons and were in the process of a rebuild. The place was packed and the atmosphere was crazy. Flash forward to 2018 in a nuetral site game, but one that was just down the road from the Utah campus and the disinterest and lack of excitement was glaring.

As an Aggie I want this event killed. But even just for in-state games in general it is terrible, play these games on campus in front of rocking crowds.

I agree. BYU plays us, and it is great fun for rival games in both basketball and football. Utah is just full of it, and they puff themselves up with nothing to back it up.

Nothing? As much as it pains me to say, a #5 ranked football team plays into their narrative that we're not worth their time. Then they take that attitude over to basketball where they're not worth our time this year. I just hate that conference affiliation and ego has killed 100+ years of tradition. Reality is that we all take turns having good years and would likely beat each other at times, so play the games and enjoy them.

I’d like to see a long contract with New Mexico State. Relatively close, always competitive, former conference mate for many years. Ditto Cal Irvine.

Loving the St Mary’s rivalry. Would be nice to make that an annual event.

I also wouldn’t mind more games with UVU, SUU and Dixie now that they’re D1. Easy travel, good chances for downstate Aggies to see games, and to make a little goodwill with legislators.

Also a ten year home and away deal with Tulsa or Oral Roberts just for me.

I'd like to have USU play a top team in Vivint. By top team I mean one with name notoriety and a history of regularly contending for a title in a top conference.

I do NOT like them play an in-state team, or a bad P5 team in Vivint.

Under the radar potential opponent is Oregon State.
Oregon State faced us in a secret scrimmage years ago, and this year they faced us in woman's basketball. Barnes is the AD for Oregon State, so there is a good chance of a home and home with Oregon State or the Knight event game in Portland.
Washington State has home and home in football with us, so it is another potential school to watch for future basketball opponents.

I don't know... Those Beavers are hard to lick.

I think it's a preference thing.

BYU was not the problem and did uphold their side, but Utah deserves all the criticism.
I see what you're saying, but BYU is always the problem. Even when they're not.
Utah has screwed over USU far more than byu has in the past decade.
Utah is not a top 5 team in football. They played two 8 win teams this year and lost to them both. Their out of conference is byu and 2 cakewalk games. They could play us in football if they wanted. Basketball is an even bigger joke. With as many ooc basketball games as there are there is no excuse not to play in-state rivals. I know some people don't like byu because of more personal reasons, but from a sports perspective, there should be far more hatred directed at Utah for this past decade.

Any updates on who else we are playing in the non-conference schedule of next season?

We play @ Davidson, vs Saint Mary's, @ Weber and vs BYU. We also have the Myrtle Beach Classic. No other details as of right now.

100% agree on a long term contract with NMSU. They always win the WAC and usually have a net rating +/- 100.

I would also like to see Montana as it’s usually between the Griz and Weber for the Big Sky championship. The winner of the Big Sky is typically sub 100 net rating.

Adding a top 1/3 AAC team would be awesome too.
