Who will be punished more in the polls?
#1 ranked James Buchanan Duke losing at home to Stephen Fuller Austin or...
#15 Utah State losing a back and forth battle on the road to #28 St. Mary's?
Let's see how this voter bias thing works.

Re: Who will be punished more in the polls?
my guess is US falls to 21-22 and Duke falls to 5-6, would have been further had Gonzaga, Mich St and UNC not lost this week

Re: Who will be punished more in the polls?
My gut feeling is that mid-majors will almost always be punished more than high-majors, no matter the circumstances

Also I could see Michigan go from unranked to top 10.
Presumptuous and ill-informed.

Re: Who will be punished more in the polls?
oh ya, I didn't consider them jumping. They have a 3-4 impressive wins, Duke could fall an extra spot and be behind the MDwigt wrote: ↑November 30th, 2019, 9:27 amAgreed.AGinNEIowa wrote: ↑November 30th, 2019, 8:40 ammy guess is US falls to 21-22 and Duke falls to 5-6, would have been further had Gonzaga, Mich St and UNC not lost this week

Re: Who will be punished more in the polls?
For sure we will fall more. I mean Duke lost to he mighty Lumberjacks at home. That is not a bad loss at all. As for the Aggies we had a true road game against a top 30 team, now that is a bad loss the pollsters will show it as well.

Upsets happen. Do you guys really think we are playing at the level of duke right now? I think we are playing great but have a way to go until we can say that we are as good as duke!

Is it an upset when the other team was favored to win? Asking for a friend.

Re: Who will be punished more in the polls?
I think complaining about the inherent biases of the pollsters is far more justified and evidence-based than complaining about the refs lol if a big-name school had lost to St Mary’s on the road, they wouldn’t fall as far as we probably will
Will respond whenever you ask what the band is doing

Re: Who will be punished more in the polls?
This is not something I hope for by any means but I’ve said elsewhere that a loss would still have positives to it. We would not have that number next to our name. Teams go all out if there is a number next to your name. Also, fan bases attract higher numbers if an opponent is ranked. The path is a little easier if you are not ranked.Blue Sage wrote:My guess is USU drops out, and I’m not the least bit concerned about that.
We may still be ranked come Monday and I hope we can go undefeated from here on out. We need Florida, BYU, and our home SDSU game. We will likely lose some of those and even get caught in conference somewhere. It’s in our best interest to be ranked come March though.

Re: Who will be punished more in the polls?
Being ranked is fun at any point of the season. It provides great exposure and you get to be on the front page of ESPN. However, being ranked doesn't appear to carry as much influence as it once did in determining seeding or even invitations in the NCAA's
You were ranked last season and in possession of a top 10 win and it only got you an 8 seed. We do not know that it would have netted you an 'at large' had you not won the tourney. I think you would have still been in but you never know. You guys have been left off despite being ranked before.
You are fortunate this season to have another highly regarded MW school in SDSU. You have a shot at 2 excellent wins in conference. That will help..
As for the seeds. The best seed Nevada every had was a 5 and they lost in the 1st round. They were a 10 when they went to the Sweet 16 the first time and a 7 year before last. Youneverknow..Getting in gives you a chance. Every school after the 1's and 2's are bunched together and teams who are playing well at the time can get some wins..

Re: Who will be punished more in the polls?
Duke will still be in most if not all ballots. USU will drop out of many.
