Have there ever been announcers so biased?

Post by Dwigt » November 22nd, 2019, 7:05 pm

It was ridiculous how much they slobbered over LSU in this game.

Bias aside, do you think there were more LSU fans or USU fans tuned in? Speak to your bigger audience, right?

Ogden.

Lazy jerks.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

I didn't mind them talking well about LSU. But it was the obvious stupidity that upset me- basic crap.

They referred to Logan as Ogden at least twice.
They misnamed our guys a few times.
They would call obvious fouls "clean blocks"

This was worse than "USU students don't even need HS degrees (or GEDs)"

I'm telling you- we need Katie Nolan. I need Katie Nolan. ;)

That was a flat out embarrassing comment to not know the location of the Aggies. That being said I thought they were really positive towards the aggies and did not sense the bias.

Oh and btw, I looked at CougarBoard to see if they were disappointed with USU beating a good team. And they were having a good time over the "Ogden" comments. Which I'm okay with. I haven't watched a single BYU hoops game this year. Glad they watched ours. Glad they were disappointed.

But in their defense, the fact that somehow they are getting national media to say "Ogden" is pretty good trolling (unless its just a lazy media)

They weren't any worse than the refs. For awhile, I thought the refs had some money on the game.

Holy sh!t. We won the game in spectacular fashion. Can we focus on that rather than getting butt-hurt about an announcer mistakenly referring to Logan as Ogden? Classic USUFans thread. Other than the Ogden reference, it didn't even occur to me to think of the announcers as biased. Sometimes I think people are just looking for reasons to complain.

The announcers didn’t bother me to much, i was very surprised that the didn’t really even mention that we were playing without Queta, arguably or best player, i was watching the game at work so i didn’t catch every word they said, but did they even mention Queta?

Well put. Same with the refs. Man, one of the things that bother me about Utahn's is the constant ragging on the refs no matter the contest.

I think they mentioned him at least once. Queta does get a <1 sec spotlight in the CBS sports highlight/hype video that got played a few times during the game.

I just finished watching the game and i wondered how in the world did me win. It goes to show you that if you play as a team with less individual talent overall you can still win. Not to say we are not talented but those LSU guy were very athletic but not as intelligent as our boys from Ogden :) :)
So glad we won and Roll Aggies!!

I thought this was the biggest surprise of all. It was almost as if they didn't even know he existed, let alone know he was sitting out. They spoke about LSU's blocks during the game but then failed to mention one of the premier shot blockers in the country is sitting over on the Aggie bench?

The other thing that sort of bugged me was the lack of calling us Aggies - the one guy seemed per-occupied with calling us Big Blue.

Going back and watching the last few minutes, all they talked about was what LSU needed to do to win, never what USU was doing to come back or what we needed to do to come out on top.

I didn’t care for it and it was annoying at times, but it’s not like they were counting us out or really downplaying us a whole lot. I can understand the complaints, but we all know it’s not a huge deal cuz WE WON!!!

I didn't notice any bias. Probably because they weren't really biased. Neither were the refs. The fact is that you are the one who is biased, and it alters your perception.

I don’t think the refs were biased but they made a bunch of bad calls and with my bias it seemed to error in favor of LSU.
