Everyone should go downvote all the voters with their heads up their a**es that don't have us in the top 25. When you only have 4 out of 65 voters leave us off the ballots, it means they are either biased or just uninformed. Even Dick Vitale has us at 25 and he is an ACC homer all the way.

It's like on rotten tomatoes when you have a few people write critical reviews when every other critic is raving about a movie. Those critics that write the negative reviews sometimes seem to write them just to be different or act like elitists.

eh, everyone has opinions and they are entitled to them. nothing is universally loved or appreciated, not even bacon. And I will still go with the thought I have every year that preseason rankings are meaningless, even if we happen to be on them this time.

In my opinion, Dukie V probably saw Sammy on the cover of Street and Smiths and wondered "who the hell is this kid on the cover?" He then asked someone on the ESPN crew (not Jay Bilas) that actually cares about college hoops beyond the ACC if we are legit, he was told that we are and he voted for us.

Or maybe those voters are actually more informed than everyone and know that we won't have Queta for a while so they didn't put us in.

I guess I’m just a spiteful person. It’s not like the thumbs up thumbs down ratio is going to upset those writers and they dint even know why they got thumbs down unless you take to Twitterverse, which I will never use.

Article on d-news webpage cites this as the 3rd time we are ranked in the preseason poll. Last time being 1970-71 season when we were ranked 12th in preseason.

I posted about this in another thread hoping you'd respond, but no dice.

You seem to be the only one who is saying anything at all about Queta’s situation, aside from one other poster who says he's seen him practice and he'll be ready. With such a scarcity of information, I'm intreagued by the hard stance you've taken on it. Any chance you'd like to clarify why you are making that claim?

I think the current real mindset is that if he can be back by conference play that will be a great thing, but we should start mentally preparing ourselves as fans for the possibility of him to miss the season.

Haha, oh I know. I can't clarify, other than I have reason to believe Queta isn't ready to play yet and he's not really that close yet.

I have reason to believe that our returning players have improved enough, and our new comers are good enough, that our team is better than last year, even without Queta.

If this poll is an accurate appraisal of our team, then the next question is “Who will our coach he next year?”

I'm an old Aggie, but not old enough (or maybe too old...) to remember the '70-'71 team that was the last one to be ranked in the preseason polls. USU78, mcaggie, tinplater, AggiesForever, other AARP-eligible Ags: can you remember that team? Marv Roberts? Nate Williams? Did we have both that year? I'm guessing a little late for Shaler Halimon.

My brother in-law dated a gal that thought bacon was evil, :headscratch: I think that was the moment he decided to move on:lol:

It's the devil because it is so desirable. In fact it's even forbidden in some circles...

Starting to get pretty excited about b-ball. I looked up the schedule to see exactly how much longer we gotta wait and seeing a pre-season number 17 by our name was pretty cool. Of all the great teams we have had the last 2 decades getting into the top 25 was like pulling teeth so to be there from the start is surreal.

A weird year. They swept the 2 games against the stench that season, then the idiots in the NCAA seeded USU to play the stench a 3rd time, and 3rd time ended up being the charm for the stench. USU, heavily favored, bounced in the first round. Still mad about that.

You keep using that word. I do not think that word means what you think it means.

I doubt ESPN has any inside info on Queta's health. The lack of updates from those close to the program is pretty concerning.

One of the writers in the article you linked picked USU as a potential Final 4 team...that's unlikely even with a healthy Queta. Safe to say I would die from happiness if it did happen though.

I don't think that's concerning at all. I wouldn't want teams to know for certain that they have to game plan for Queta.

It's almost surreal to see so much preseason hype being thrown our way. I think we as Aggie fans took our string of early 2000's success for granted. Let's not do this same this time around and enjoy the ride a little more!
