Non-conference schedule

We’ve gotta be releasing the schedule soon, right? We’re creeping right up on the season. When’s the latest it’s been released?
Unless something has changed VERY recently, this is still the case. And the crazy thing is, I don't think they are looking for a home game and no one still wants to play us.ProvoAggie wrote: ↑September 1st, 2019, 8:10 pmI think we're still trying to get one more game scheduled.

When you say no one, do you actually mean no one, or just no one worthwhile? Are the rumored Texas and Arizona games happening?aggies22 wrote: ↑September 1st, 2019, 8:20 pmUnless something has changed VERY recently, this is still the case. From what I've heard, USU is pretty much willing to play anyone at this point. They're trying anything and everything to get the last game filled. We just added Denver which was one of the worst teams in the country last year. We simply can't leave a spot on the schedule open. Hopefully the delay doesn't cause a delay in fans getting season tickets but I'm guessing it does.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑September 1st, 2019, 9:29 pmWhen you say no one, do you actually mean no one, or just no one worthwhile? I already renewed mine, but that is because I am an exceptional fan who doesn’t accept mediocrity.ProvoAggie wrote: ↑September 1st, 2019, 9:39 pmHopefully the delay doesn't cause a delay in fans getting season tickets but I'm guessing it does.
I find it hard to believe that schools like UVU, SUU, Idaho State, etc. won’t play us home and home. Perhaps they have filled their schedules this late in the scheduling season, but if we were willing to schedule “anyone” before they filled their schedules, I doubt they would have said no. My guess is we were being pickier earlier, and now that it is late, we have become desperate and are claiming to be willing to schedule anyone and “no one” will play us (but many teams have completed their schedule now).
Craig just has to pick up the phone. Easy as that. Am I right?SLB wrote:Why we can't get Gonzaga or a Pac 12 team on the schedule?
Good. Get them ready for the tournament this year. Plus we're more likely to get quad 1 games in neutral and away games. However, it would be fun to have a few really good opponents in Logan...Aggiesbleedblue wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2019, 8:58 amRothstein just announced a neutral game against South Florida in Houston. Our non-conference schedule will be our toughest ever, a shame none of the games will be in Logan tho
#83 in the NET rankings last yearAggiesbleedblue wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2019, 8:58 amRothstein just announced a neutral game against South Florida in Houston. Our non-conference schedule will be our toughest ever, a shame none of the games will be in Logan tho
BYU is a neutral game (Beehive Classic).BigBlueDart wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2019, 10:35 amSo, is this the list to date?
11/5 - Montana St (#246)
11/12 - Denver (#324)
11/22 - (neutral) LSU (#16)
11/24 - (neutral) North Texas (#147)
12/14 - @BYU (#89)
12/18 - (neutral) South Florida (#83)
12/21 - (neutral) Florida (#30)
TBA - @St Mary's (#35)
TBA - Weber St (#182)
The average 2018-19 NET ranking of our OOC opponents here is 128. Not bad.
Ah, so it is. Corrected.
Thanks for pointing that out. I also just checked St. Mary's and it appears that they've released their schedule without USU on it. Not sure what happened. Jon Rothstein first announced the game.
That is weird. Smith mentioned the SMC series on the recent pod with Rothstein...ProvoAggie wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2019, 12:10 pmThanks for pointing that out. It is possible that they are waiting for us to complete our schedule before they officially announce a date for this game.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2019, 12:14 pmThat is weird. If it is happening, the only gaps of time that the two schedules show are Nov 26-29, Dec 11-12, and Dec 23-26ususports wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2019, 12:48 pmIt is possible that they are waiting for us to complete our schedule before they officially announce a date for this game.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2019, 12:14 pmThat is weird. Aren’t we also missing the tune-up home games in the Jamaica Classic?ProvoAggie wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2019, 5:02 pmThat is correct. The schedule page on here is now fully updated and I'm pretty sure that we have the entire schedule except for the exhibition opponent.
I’m sad this one and Denver will not work out for me. I planned on driving to the Sat Fresno game then go to San Fran to watch the Seahawks Monday night. Doesn’t sound as fun missing two basketball games to do that (or miss one and get up early Saturday and drive).lcrasmus wrote:

You are correct. I forgot about those ones.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2019, 6:38 pmAren’t we also missing the tune-up home games in the Jamaica Classic?ProvoAggie wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2019, 5:02 pmThat is correct. The full season before the conference tournament consists of 29 games. But a multi-team event like the Jamaica Classic counts as only two games. So, with the four Jamaica Classic games, the Aggie can schedule 31 games. The conference schedule is 18, so they get 13 OOC games.Aggie84025 wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2019, 9:49 pmHow many non conference games are you allowed to play?
So we could still schedule two more in addition to the two Jamaica Classic tune-up home games?dogie wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2019, 10:27 pmThe full season before the conference tournament consists of 29 games. I think that is correct. The South Florida game was just announced, but there have been posts on this board for weeks that there was a neutral-site game in Houston. I don’t think that is one of the two final games that they were looking at.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2019, 10:31 pmSo we could still schedule two more in addition to the two Jamaica Classic tune-up home games?dogie wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2019, 10:27 pmThe full season before the conference tournament consists of 29 games. Also, it looks like our first 5 games might all be at home (Montana St., Weber, Denver, and 2 Jamaica Classic home games). Should be 5-0 out of the gate and should have plenty of opportunities to get young guys some minutes and experience right out of the chute before things toughen up with LSU, SMC, BYU, South Florida, and Florida (that group of teams on our schedule sounds amazing, BTW).ineptimusprime wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2019, 10:31 pmSo we could still schedule two more in addition to the two Jamaica Classic tune-up home games?dogie wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2019, 10:27 pmThe full season before the conference tournament consists of 29 games. Like how this is shaping up even though it is taking a while. Looking at dates, there’s probably room for one more D1 game in between Fresno and BYU in December, and an NAIA game after Christmas before the conference schedule starts in earnest.
This question is answered in the affirmative, and more literally than most have realized.ineptimusprime wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2019, 6:38 pmAren’t we also missing the tune-up home games in the Jamaica Classic?ProvoAggie wrote: ↑September 3rd, 2019, 5:02 pmThat is correct.
