Tom Nissalke has passed away, 87
I always enjoyed listening to him when he was on the Aggie broadcast team. RIP, Coach.

Concur, BG, as I was coming to post the same thing. Tom was phenomenal as a color analyst alongside the big silk in the mid-90’s.bluegrouse wrote: ↑August 23rd, 2019, 1:45 pmI always enjoyed listening to him when he was on the Aggie broadcast team. RIP, Coach.

Re: Tom Nissalke has passed away, 87
I have (at least) 3 fond Nissalke memories:
1) After he first interviewed Eric Franson, he asked Al if it would be possible to interview him after every game. Eric was the best (in his words) interviewee he had ever met.
2) He coined a phrase "false hustle" relative to a player in Provo who was known to get the crowd excited by jumping excessively while playing defense. Tom used the phrase on more than one occasion with multiple players , but I will always think of the cougar that won the label. Tom preferred players who played good defense "effortlessly".
3) He was on a call-in show where a caller referred to Greg Ostertag as "stupid". He took exception to that stating that he had met some seriously stupid players through the years. His determining factor was that Ostertag had a good sense of humor. "Really stupid players don't know how to be funny".
I think Tom will always be my favorite color guy.
