87 might be a bit high for the Pack but I agree that Hymes is perhaps the most important piece. He is under the radar because he red shirted last season but he was highly regarded coming out of high school and had a ton of high major offers.

He was a stick when he came in but he has added some good weight and my spies tell me he was really good in the summer practices. He is more of a stretch 4 than a true post player but he is very skilled. I think Alford will have him in a lot of pick and roll/ pick and pop situations. He is a very good shooter.

I suspect Nevada will finish with much smaller number than 87. They’ve got weapons and a good coach and could be dangerous.

The guards are solid..The front court is a question mark. Should be a very good 3 point shooting team..That gives them a puncher's chance most nights. I do think Alford will get them back into contention fairly quickly. Maybe not this year, though

#27. Utah State– I think Craig Smith should have been the national Coach of the Year last season, taking a team that was .500 in the Mountain West and lost Koby McEwen and leading them past Nevada in the Mountain West and to the NCAA Tournament. Between Sam Merrill and Neemias Queta, few teams have a better duo than the Aggies. Upside for improvement lies in the hands of Queta’s continued development down low and a freshman class that features Sean Bairstow, the brother of former New Mexico star Cameron Bairstow.

While I’m happy to see Alphonso listed on this list, the fact that Khalid Thomas from CSI is #7 discredits the article. I watched that guy play on at least 10 occasions and while he has “the look” of a baller and deep range, he was one of the laziest and softest players on the team. He possesses zero leadership qualities, is ball dominant, has poor shot selection, and openly calls out his teammates on the court for mistakes far less severe than mistakes he commits. He will be a bust.

I am not sure that negates the entire list. I have seen other publications that mention a lot of the same guys.

Anyhoo, Anderson looks to be very promising.

CSI has built a program which does attract high level athletes, but in the years I've followed them they typically run 12-14 deep in their rotation with emphasis placed on hustle and team defense. It's a fun style to watch, and it's easy to see which players buy into the team concept and which ones don't.
