Re: Officials
Rough game all the way around. My opinion is the officials let Mussleman get away with running his mouth where other coaches would get a "T", but it seems the referees don't seem to mind or he would be slammed with any numbers of technicals....which to date he hasn't been.

Re: Officials
Listening to Al on the way home, he said that when he saw who the officiating crew was at the beginning of the game, he knew it would be a rough night. He has seen many officiating crews over the years. He said one official is too old, one is a bad ref and the third doesn't know which way to call a foul.

Re: Officials
Merrill's "toe on the line" call was very telling imo. the ref was adamant that it was only a two. He was way out of position and basically guessed that Sam's toe was on the line. It wasn't really even that close.

Let em play always sounds good, but in this game if they do that...I think there would have been some serious fights. Tough to ref a game like this.

I agree. I felt like the refs were struggling to keep it in control.BigBlueAggie wrote: ↑March 2nd, 2019, 10:46 pmLet em play always sounds good, but in this game if they do that...I think there would have been some serious fights. Tough to ref a game like this.

Re: Officials
Many of the fouls on us either had no to little contact or should have been a travel on Nevada.
They had one guy foul out on a weak call. We had 4 or 5 of those before that. They were mailing us and started to get away with it and it increased. Then they started calling it.

It looked on the line to me, but I sit at mid court 31 rows up. On tv it’s clearly not and you can see the ref behind him.BigSkyAG wrote:Merrill's "toe on the line" call was very telling imo. the ref was adamant that it was only a two. Tonight must have been some sort of record for the most players that have fouled out in a game...?

The last foul on Queta should get that ref demoted to NAIA games only.

Re: Officials
When refs over call games like this it leads to quick whistles, inconsistent calls, and frustrated players that actually escalates the tension of the game. Disgraceful officiating on both sides of the court.

Re: Officials
When the game was allowed to flow we killed Nevada. In the stretches where the refs called inconsistent fouls Nevada stayed in it.
This was a very poorly officiated game. I would love to see the official grading on their performance

I don't remember a game with as many overturned calls.

It's like his over-animated behavior and over the top antics has just become accepted by the referees. Re: Officials
The players (seven) who fouled out and the ten who finished the game were the only ones who played. It’s possible that this has never happened in a D1 game in college basketball history.

Re: Officials
This is a little different. In not saying that either team depleted its bench. It’s that there was no one on the bench for either team at the end of the game who had played, except for those who had fouled out.TheAKAggie wrote: ↑March 3rd, 2019, 10:15 amSomeone finished with 3 last year.dogie wrote:The players (seven) who fouled out and the ten who finished the game were the only ones who played. More of a “yes, and” Nevada was put of players. I guess all their scholarships are filled by transfers that are sitting out?dogie wrote:This is a little different. At one point midway through the second half I had an epiphany that I now have no idea what is or isn’t a foul anymore.

Re: Officials
ANother was an or of bounds on Queta. Ref said foot was on line, replay showed his toes in bounds and his heels up and off the floor, though over the or of bounds line, nothing on him was actually out of bounds.TheAKAggie wrote: ↑March 2nd, 2019, 11:26 pmIt looked on the line to me, but I sit at mid court 31 rows up. Go back and watch the last five minutes, nearly everytime down the floor on either end, one of our players hit the deck. I guess our guys are just clumsy.

Re: Officials
I get frustrated with how often they let people reach on Porter, especially last night. It's as if they have decided Porter isn't very good so they let the other team get away with reaching/fouling.
