Nice Job KSL

Post by Coloraggie » January 23rd, 2015, 11:41 am

I don't think they hire editors. See the link:

http://www.ksl.com/?sid=33200429&nid=85 ... ss-extlink

It says that David Collette has hit 88 of his 161 3-pt attempts for a 55%. I'm pretty sure he has only attempted a few on the year.

Later is says that since beginning of conference play USU has banked 55 of 108 3 pt.attempts. I wonder if our players call glass every time they bank a 3 pointer, if not it shouldn't be counted.

Last paragraph says in addition to its 'luck' on the 3 point line. Why can't they give credit for skill but must call it luck?

LOL! Where are they getting these stats? I guess Collette has 264 points this year just from his 3 point shooting. They're only off by 258 points. Collette is actually 2-6 on the year.... pretty close to 88-161 I guess.

What in the WORLD???

Just did a little more research. If Collette really had made 88 3-point shots this year that would make him the national leader in 3 point makes. The current leader is a guy by the name of Tyler Harvey from Eastern Washington who is 86 for 175 so far this year. He is averaging nearly 24 points a game.

Also: If he really were shooting 55% for the year he would be the 2nd best 3-points shooter in the nation.

I wonder what kind of universe this guy is writing these articles from. Wherever it is, that's pretty awesome for Collette.

The most amazing thing about this stat to me is that he's only a TRUE FRESHMAN!

Did he look at the team stats instead of Collette's stats? KSL has written some shody articles just over the past few months. A few times I try to write comments to let them know the mistakes and my comments always get denied.

The team is 133 for 336 from threes. I have no idea what he was looking at.

According to Collette's stats on ESPN his total field goal percentage was 88/160 for 55% through the Air Force game. I guess the KSL "reporter" doesn't know the difference between field goals and 3-pointers.

Presumptuous and ill-informed.

It seems very likely that they don't know the difference.

I thought it was common knowledge that field goals are 3-pointers. Touchdowns are 6-pointers. Free throws can be worth either 1 or 2 points depending on how you attempt them. Obviously Collette is 88/160 when kicking field goals for the basketball team. This should be great news for us fans of the Utah State Jazz. :stirpot:

I also posted a comment pointing out the error. They didn't post my comment, and didn't correct the article.
